Experiment Introduction Body Paragraph #1 - Background: Everyone cherishes water on a daily basis because it is an element on earth. Without water, there would be no life on this earth, meaning humans and spices. So the quality of water and drinking water is and should be important for people and other species on this earth. It is very important that water researchers are used to continually keep our drinking clean water flowing through our society. There is about 99% of water is composed primarily so salt water. So the other 1% the earth’s population survives off of fresh water available. When water isn’t treated so it would be called a waterborne disease is caused by drinking contaminated or dirty, water. Buy drinking contaminated water, it could cause a different variety of diseases like Cholera, Guinea it is a worm disease, Typhoid, and Dysentery. Water that is related to this disease 1.8 million deaths each year(Unicef.org, 2003). Today day and age research has come a long way which is saving hundreds of lives which research needs to stay strong and improve and become more advanced. So one day there is enough clear water across the world for every person and spices that is on earth. Are you ever thirsty for a nice cold glass of clean water? Most privileged people can find decent drinkable water in at least three places in the average kitchen. It’s a gift we commonly undermine. Unfortunately, many adults and young children aren’t granted this privilege. Striving each day to find clean water and still worry if it is safe enough to drink. All around the world some of the deadliest bacteria, diseases, and germs are alive in the water. Underprivileged countries do not have clean running water or even a decent well to draw from; this results in drinking from stagnate rivers, salty oceans, and contaminated puddles. Each year, thousands of people die from the bacteria living in unclean water. Sorrowfully, many of those numbers are young children! When a child becomes sick from bacteria found in their drinking water, an entire daily system becomes thrown out of balance. They cannot attend school or work, and it affects friends and family around them! Moreover, economical issues arise. Humans around the world have their whole lives ahead of them. Everyone should have daily access to clean drinking water to keep them healthy and growing. In this fallen world that’s not always the reality. The cycle that contaminated water brings is almost unstoppable.
The purpose of the experiment was to test the levels of water contamination in each beaker to see how high each vial would contaminate the water based on the color the water became once each vial was poured into the given beakers. In Experiment 2: Water Treatment, I used potting soil, sand, activated charcoal, gravel, alum, bleach, and beakers with my own-supplied tap water. The purpose of this experiment was to see if the different particles placed in the tap water could be removed by various filtration techniques. In Experiment 3: Drinking Water Quality, I used several various test strips, each individual strip testing for ammonia, chloride, 4-in-1, phosphate, and iron, along with samples of Disanti bottled water, Fiji bottled water, and my own tap water from home. The purpose of this experiment was to determine if bottled water is any more or less filtrated than my own tap water at home.
An average of 1.8 billion people around the world face the problem of unsanitary drinking water. From adults to children living in developing countries they risk disease and illness by drinking unsafe water. More than 840,000 people die a year related to water disease, and are faced with symptoms such as diarrhea. Diarrhea alone, from poor drinking water and sanitation, kills approximately 2,300 people per day. Related to this statistic one child dies every minute from water-related illnesses. Many people around the world are faced with a water issue such as unsanitary drinking water, and women spend hours each day collecting water just to survive. The experiment we conducted was to see if the conodoguinet creek was polluted. We had three different experiments and each experiment showed that there was little to no pollution. The results we have will help notify the public and the health department if the water needs to be treated or not. We had the correct materials and background knowledge to complete this task.

Water, like food, is a necessity for human life that is used for many purposes such as agricultural, industrial, and domestic systems. While water is a common element around the world not all of it is clean and able to be consumed or used by humans. With only a percentage of the world’s water being clean and the use of water increasing, the availability of water around the world has become a common issue in the developing and even the developed world. This may be a smaller problem in areas close to clean water sources compared to areas far from a clean water source but, the availability of water is not strictly based on location, it also depends on the specific political and social needs and issues of the area as well. These all become issues that must be accounted for when deciphering whether water is a basic human right or a commodity and what action must be taken to aid the developing water systems in community’s that lack them.

Water is a very important commodity to live. Some people say it’s a right, but others at as if it’s a privilege, and as a result, people lack it. The human body is about sixty percent water, but in what I have seen just in my twenty years of life, people do not drink merely enough of it. Instead, water has been replaced as a go-to drink by things like milk, coffee, pop, or energy drinks, but natural energy lies in water. With water we can be more energized, awake, and of course, hydrated, which all together collaborate to help us flourish, stay healthy, and live long. It’s most of the earth’s surface, too; water’s all around us, but we neglect it and deny its crucial place in our health and humanity.
