The epic quest had begun just a few weeks ago, and already we were at the apex. The villain was just beyond that far, oak-wood door, and our small, motley crew of different skills and styles had perseveringly pushed our way past his endless seas of minions to reach this point. Just in front of the door curled a large, black-scaled beast of a wyrm, and as Brandon accidentally kicked a rock, the sound echoing overloud through the corridor that widened into a huge, circular room, a flash of red was seen as the being opened its eyes and stared at us for a moment, unmoving. The four of us--five, including Cody’s familiar--emerged into the grand space, at the center of which was a pit where the dragon had just earlier slept. A deep, snake-like …show more content…
With an explosive sound of ice and fire colliding, clear spikes expanded and punctured every bit of the wyrm, effectively killing it. The group exchanged glances and we continued on towards the door. We opened it, but there was no dramatic display of wall torches or creeping shadows, no grand throne and no evil laugh. Instead, there was just a man. No black cloak and hood. No monstrous being. Just a man, and he was dressed in simple clothing. “Congrats, you finished the dungeon,” he said in a bored tone. We were all unsure what was going on. This wasn’t the climax we’d worked towards! “Go choose a prize,” he added, gesturing widely towards a table cluttered with all sorts of baubles and toys. “Whatever happened to the final boss and stuff?” I protested, and the apparent dungeonmaster rolled his eyes. “Life doesn’t work like that, kiddo. There isn’t a such thing as arch-enemies or final enemies. Just small daily struggles involving other people, and most struggles against yourself. Go back one room and look at the dragon that almost killed
Birth of myths. ___ Maria Paula Quintero. 7A Hero’s Journey
Hannah the MII woke up and got dressed into her favorite racing suit. She hopped into her shiny, blue, new, bright car. The whirl of the engine flew as they lined up. Mario said “let's-a-go” before the beginning of the race. Hannah had a feeling that something was going to go wrong but forgot the fear. They were in the moo moo meadow and were so excited. Just then the ghost held up the sign that said “3-2-1” and the karts flew with a blink of an eye past the starting line. Mario raced into first place as he got the extra boost, while Hannah was stuck without the boost but was making her way to 6th place.
There are many steps of “The Hero’s Journey”. The first step of The Hero’s Journey is the ‘Ordinary World’. The ‘Ordinary World’ allow us to get to know the Hero and identify with him before the Journey begins. This step refers to the hero 's normal life at the start of the story.
The Journey of Epic Heroes Every epic hero is the personification of goodness and strength. Similar to Odysseus in The Odyssey and the Iliad, he is fighting for his people and for good. An epic hero is not just someone who has heroic characteristics, but also someone who embodies the goodness and virtues of their writers time and society. In the modern era they are mainly characters with crazy powers and stories.
Make up an idea of what a hero should be like, Are you done? Good. Now put that hero that you just made up and send him on a unforgetable journey. Make your hero go through unexpected battles and have him lose at least one important thing in his life. Next make up a story with a happy ending or a bad ending whichever one you desire. I asked these questions because you just made a hero's journey.
Its Passover and I’m flying over a table in an empty room all by myself until I hear a noise. Twelve men including Jesus Christ walk in and sat down. Jesus took a seat at the end of the table talking to the other twelve. They were all talking to each other and having a good time. Jesus Christ, sitting at the end of the table, told all of the men around the table to the, “I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me”. I didn’t know what he was talking about at first until One of the men stood up and replied,” Surely not I, Rabbi?”. Jesus then turned to the man and said, “yes, it is you.” everyone continued to eat and converse with each other until Jesus took the loaf of unleavened bread, stood up, and declared to all the men at the table,”
By the time Peter arrived at the castle the sun was close to setting. He sat down in the solar to read for a little before Adelina came to collect him so they could walk to the chapel together. Afterwards, they walked back to the castle and Adelina finished preparing the deer meat that Peter had caught that day. They didn't like to waste time in eating fresh meat, as it would go off quickly. Adelina was a great cook and Peter loved the vegetables she prepared from the gardens. The two of them ate the meal and chatted about how the estate was going.
The hero’s journey is a long and arduous one, but ends up being quite rewarding in the end. The hero follows the road of growth and education until they are ready to pursuit their goals and save the day. Two such heroes journeys are the stories of Will Stronghold in Sky High (2005) and Hercules of Hercules (1997). Both, Will and Hercules, want to be heroes and correlate through the ideals of: lacking of powers, making their fathers proud, and wanting to save the day. Thus, the two films can be assessed through the various social and personal similarities within the film.
Do you ever sit and ponder, what would I do with an express ticket anywhere your imagination could take you? My first thought was let’s go to Hogwarts, but as I sat and thought about it. An express ticket beyond my imagination? I know exactly where i’d go, or when i’d go.
“Then you must take up your well-shaped oar and go on a journey until you come where there are men living who know nothing of the sea,” said Teiresias, a famous blind prophet.
Three grueling days of marching. until we arrived at a small village. To the center plaza we marched, many of the frightened and confused villagers had gathered there. The legate leading the legion began reading a memoir written by a team of scouts on the horrid atrocities the Hunnic hordes have committed. We needed their support in the fight so they would agree to supply us with the provisions that had been rapidly depleting. Just before he had finished a scout rode into the plaza bloodied and battered he warned us of the Huns and there overwhelmingly large force before finally dying of his injuries. The villagers began to panic and some fled with their belongings. The Legate tried to comfort them telling them we can ensure their safety. We fortified the town built an castra. It was all we could do. Later that evening after I took a small excursion I could see the torches and the yurts atop the craggy mountain. It also became apparent that the terrain advantage they had could not be overcome by our inferior numbers. Evan so the legate informed us we would begin marching on the hill the next morning. I couldn't sleep knowing that death awaited us the at dawn. I went to the mess hall for a hiatus. While there a centurion asked me to take his shift at night watch. I humbly complied.
Let me tell you a short story about this boy. It was 9 o'clock in the afternoon when his parent asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up, he said with enthusiasm "I want to be a doctor", not knowing what it is. After that we just went about our days. Ten years later, he's a senior in junior high school getting ready to embark on the road where many have failed. He did what he had to do so that he can graduate. Graduation day was here and pretty quickly. His parents said to him, "no more fun and games, you are going to enter high school. All I want from you is to pass your class of high grades , graduate and go on to college to pursue your career to become a doctor." This kid heard a lot of things when it comes to becoming a doctor and
How does one become a hero? The process of becoming a hero involves several steps such as, initiation, when the hero overcome a feat, crossing the threshold, the hero proving himself worthy of the quest. Road of trials is an excellent time for a hero to prove himself or herself, they have to survive through different landscapes. You can see this through the comparison of Star Wars The Last Jedi and The Hobbit.
“Over here!” Lori called to her friend, Kayla as she was trudging below the blazing hot Arizona sun. After looking up and seeing Lori, Kayla shouted “Coming!” while jogging happily to greet her best friend. Both girls were looking forward to this get together because they were planning on hiking a new trail through the beautiful desert mountains. “I am so excited!” Kayla exclaimed once Lori caught up to Kayla. Carrying small filled bags with a couple granola bars, water, a hat, a couple of bandages and some sunscreen, you could see the anticipation in their eyes for this fun adventure! Although they didn’t do much research on this trail, they were thrilled for the trip ahead.
The clock struck 3am; I jolted out of bed. Normally, I would be fast asleep dreaming about what I was going to awake to cooking on the stove, but this night was different. An immense pain struck me, so strong I couldn't bear to lie back down. The look of confusion and terror on my face must have been one to please even the likes of Stephen King himself.
