Introduction Childhood obesity is an epidemic that goes on throughout the United States. Studies have shown how obesity in children may start, and how it affects each and every child in America. Childhood obesity has been getting attention in the media from famous celebrities all the way to the First Lady of the United States. There are many things that cause childhood obesity and very few ways to stop it. However, there are people out there who are trying to help by getting children active, eating healthy and getting back on track to having a healthy and long life. Background Childhood obesity has been a growing problem in the United States. Reports beginning in 1960 there were few being recorded, because of that childhood obesity was not a problem in the beginning stages. Since then numbers of obesity in children has increased over 20 percent throughout the years. Beginning in the early 2000’s is when childhood obesity became the epidemic it once was, millions of fast food restaurants were being built all over across America. Also, children started becoming less active and becoming more involved with technology. However, because of childhood obesity becoming a problem it has caught the attention of the First Lady Michelle Obama and she has made it a goal to help children in America get in shape, be active, and join her “Let’s Move” campaign.
