1.2 Evolution of Mobile Communication A mobile communication is evaluates through different generations: First Generation(1G): First generation of mobile communication developed in 1980 's and completed in early 1990 's based on analog system.1G systems are based on AMPS(Advanced Mobile Phone Service ) technology.1G network only supports voice communication and no data service is provided by this. Second Generation (2G): Second generation of mobile communication was developed in 1990 's based on digital system and speed up to 64 kbps. G provides services such as text messages, picture messages and MMS (Multi Media Messages). It doesn 't support complex data service such as videos. There is no concept of QoS (Quality of Service). Second and half Generation (2.5G): 2.5G mainly developed between second and third generation so it named second and half generation. It is based on GPRS (General Packet Radio service) technology. Third Generation (3G): Third generation of mobile communication system was introduced in the year 2000. International Mobile Telecommunications2000 (IMT-2000), better known as 3G or 3rd Generation. It allows both data and voice services such as video calls, mobile TV, mobile internet and downloading. It is based on WCDMA (Wide band code division multiple access) and 3GPP technology.
