Topic: The evolution of the LPGA General Purpose: Inform the audience about an important social issue that has changed over time by introducing potentially unknown information about the relevant issue. Specific Purpose: To inform the audience about the beginning, the evolution and the current happenings of the LPGA. Thesis Statement: The history of the LPGA is a storied one full of highs and lows, and it is a living organization that continues to evolve and thrive to this day. Introduction I. With society’s attention of equality and social awareness at an all time high, the beginnings of many modern organizations should be explored. I’ve chosen women’s athletics to research and inform the class about, in particular the oldest continuous organization and my personal favorite, the LPGA. II. The history of the LPGA is a storied one full of highs and lows, and is a living organization that continues to evolve and thrive to this day. III. The LPGA is referred to by David Hudson (2008, p. 47) as “getting bigger and bigger, better and better and greater and greater.” IV.
