‘The Fast Food Nation’ by Eric Schlosser was published in January 17th, 2001. Eric Schlosser is an American journalist and is well known as an author who uses investigative journalism in most of his books. For his book, The Fast Food Nation also he has used the same. What is visible through this book is that extensive research has been done to write it.
Fast food restaurants are something that everyone is attracted to in the modern times as they want to avoid the tedious work of cooking at home after a long and tiring day at work. To add to that, these restaurants are clean! What could possibly go wrong then! Eric Schlosser, in this book tells us about almost everything that we need to know about fast food chains, restaurants and driveways that have been coming up and making large amount of profits day after day. Schlosser mentions about the history of these fast food restaurants, however, this is not something I will be dealing with in depth in my research work. …show more content…

He bought three hot dog carts and eventually went on to build his own restaurant which is now known as the famous “Carls Jr.”, which was built as a competition to Mcdonalds. Therefore, since then several other fast food chains started to come up seeing the profits made by these two restaurants. This was a time when capitalism was at rise in America. Hence, these restaurants made even more profits. But, Schlosser shows us a different side of the coin
