COMPANY BACKGROUND
NOVA Chemicals is a specialty chemicals manufacturing company located in Southern Ontario, on the St. Clair River west of Toronto. NOVA Chemicals specialises in the production of polyethylene (PE), high density and linear low density polyethylene. [1] The production process involves the transportation of the liquid ethylene feedstock, via pipeline, to the plant site followed by the production of various PE resins (pellet form). These PE pellets are then sold to consumers for use in common applications such as bottles for milk and other non-carbonated drinks, drums, fuel tanks for automobiles, toys and household goods. Due to the fact that high density polyethylene (HDPE) has good chemical resistance, it is often used for

Appendix A demonstrates a table of stakeholder engagement, as well as topics and concerns, and how the company engages with these. The NOVA chem’s commitment to stakeholders, as well as sustainability, is strongly supported by the company’s senior management and thus it is imperative that these are up-to-date with key environmental issues as well as environmental risk management and assessment methods.
ENVIRONMENTAL RISKS
There are many environmental issues that factor into risk. However, there are key environmental issues that are most relevant to the chemicals sector. Listed below are the key issues as well as what is being done and how for environmental assessments on these issues.
i. Air
Air quality models to monitor emissions resulting from the PE production process.
Track emissions and make sure they are within regulation. ii. Greenhouse Gas emissions
Investing in new technology and projects to further drive improvements in manufacturing capabilities and energy efficiency;
Incorporating process improvement and new sources.
Expected significant reduction in GHG emissions. [3] iii. Waste
PE resins, as well as the end-use consumer products, are recyclable.
e.g. Grocery bags can be recycled on a community level.
e.g. Rigid consumer products can be reclaimed and recycled back
Due to the interest of keeping this paper concise, this list of stakeholders is non-exhaustive.
There are many groups that have a stake in Ventria’s action. There are some stakeholders that hold a lower salience such as, the environmentalist, consumer advocates, and food-safety activist. Which are,
It has three material environmental issues; they are water risk, energy and carbon, and packaging and waste.
Product Innovation – Innovation of new products had failed many times and MTI has lost reputation with Wall Street. This process had been placed on the backburner and when the CEO came on board there were only six products in the pipeline. Therefore, to be successful in the future, MTI needs to invest more in R&D and focus on delivering new products.
For example, Quick China is a Chinese food restaurant that has a similar concept to us. Their problem is that their food wasn’t being cooked quick enough. They decided to buy a quicker steamer for their meats and rice and now are seeing massive sale increases. In fact, the Wall Street Journal recently stated that, “Companies who are replacing their old machinery for more efficient and productive machinery have noticed a 35% increase in sales over the past nine months”. The addition of new machinery and increase in sales will contribute to the overall success of our
In conversations globally the environment is a hot topic. Issues with the ozone layer, depleting natural resources, and health risks associated with emissions and changes in climate coupled with its resulting natural disasters; have pushed conservation issues into the spotlight. The environmental issues presented today are not the result of one country, one type, or one-industry actions but a communal failure of a mixture of several. With that said many countries and industries are going through policy changes to combat environmental issues that will hopefully benefit the environment, the consumer, and industries.
In my opinion the three stakeholders mentioned above have more important role than the others in sustainable development. The first stakeholder, TransCanada argues that they are committed to sustainable development and claim that they have state of the art oil spill detection mechanism but the following facts destroys their argument

Two key issues that I am currently concerned about is college tuition and the use of potentially toxic chemicals in our everyday items. The price of a college education has drastically increased in the recent years and continues to increase along with student loans. This makes the decision
To satisfy the principle of stakeholder inclusiveness, Glencore must “identify their stakeholders, and explain how Glencore have responded to their reasonable expectations and interests” (GRI 2015, p9). TABLE 1 in (a) indicated that Glencore sufficiently identified its stakeholders, including Glencore’s employees, labour unions, host governments, communities, NGOs, business partners, investors, and customers (Glencore 2015, p19).

Sooner or later all companies will be pushed to make their products and processes more sustainable. By realizing such trends today, Herman Miller makes its investments right now in order to secure high pay offs in future.
Polyethylene is a petrochemical product that has been widely used in the plastic manufacturing, such as packaging, trash bins, and food containers. It is produced mainly from the polymerization process of ethylene, which is an ingredient derived from cracking crude oil and natural gas. There are three types of polyethylene: low-density polyethylene (LDPE); high density polyethylene (HDPE); and low linear density polyethylene (LLDPE), and each of them has distinctive commercial applications.
The consequence of these modern innovations is that the chemical industry has had extremely harmful consequences on the environment. The emissions of greenhouse gases and the greenhouse effect, water pollution, the decrease of biodiversity and the impact on human health are consistent and growing effects of the chemical industry and its activities. When chemicals are manufactured, consumed or thrown away, they are able to infiltrate not just the water cycle but also the air and even the ground soil. Depending on the number of polluting
A clear and comprehensive understanding of stakeholders is a prerequisite to the effectiveness of social response. Conoco Phillips should take into account the long-term effects of the exterior stakeholders on
