Barbara Olson, the author of The Final Days: The Last Desperate Abuses of Power by the Clinton White House, was a conservative who worked for CNN and Fox News as a television commenter. She was born in Houston, Texas, and she earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Saint Thomas. She later earned a Juris Doctor degree from Yeshiva University’s Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. Olson was one of the women who formed the Independent Women’s Forum, which had a goal of maintaining a high profile group of women to advocate for personal responsibility and economic and political freedom. Later in her life, Olson became chief investigator for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. As chief investigator, she led the Travelgate and Filegate investigations into the Clinton Administration.

Her life came to a tragic end at the age of 45 on September 11th: She was a passenger on the American Airlines Flight 77, and she was traveling to Bill Maher’s television show Politically Incorrect when it was flown into the Pentagon. When she passed, she had already finished the book and the publisher already completed the editorial and prepublication work. The book was sent to the printer but the presses did not begin at the time of her death.
