Target Group Research Project 1. Executive Summary The focus of our case study is Target Corporation, the second largest retailer in the United States. Target exists in a very competitive environment going up against other retailers such as Wal-Mart, K-Mart (Sears), and others. During this examination, we’ll review the 2014 shareholders report to examine the fiscal health of Target Corporation. We’ll make a comparison between their main competitors Sears and Wal-Mart in order to give an accurate picture of market performance. By adding these12 brands, Target intended to offer a variety of products that would be attractive to any consumers as it is shown on their website. Their products range from groceries, furniture, clothing, shoes and day to day essentials. It also offers pharmacy and photo services. All of these are offered at affordable prices while maintaining a high level of quality. In other words, Target is a ‘one-stop-shop’. Factors that may influence demand for Target products, when compared with the competitors, may include affordable pricing, quality of their products and the market that they are trying to attract. Some significant technology changes that have taken placed within target include the launch of mobile Target App, Target.com, and its stores, Target Express, City Target, Super Target, and Target. In addition, Target recently launched a new program called Hi Tech. The program allows customers to attend workshops and received IT services rather than wait in line. In order to attract more customers and increase its productivity, Target is expanding its groceries products to its stores.
