(Inspired by Mandelbrot’s Chaos Theory) Almost all the second language learners in Kazakhstan have the same schedule every day. They go to schools or universities where lessons are held in Russian or in Kazakh, they attend additional classes to prepare for the exams also in Russian or may be in Kazakh sometimes, they are on the job working mainly in Russian, they go to their English classes, may be they start speaking English a little bit, but then they go home and revert back to their native tongue again. May be they are making slow improvements in speaking English, but still it is not enough to be fluent in English. The biggest problem for Kazakhstan students is that they almost never speak English in their everyday lives. They can do it only attending English classes and only if their teacher creates such opportunity, so that students can practice oral speech. Passive listening is okay, but interacting is even better. It is of vital importance for the teachers to have students speak in the target language as much as they can, stick to English. That is why teachers of the English in Kazakhstan need practical, easy-to-implement, effective methods to increase the use of the English in the classroom. One of the most effective methods for improving speaking skills is Fractal Geometry method. The teacher provides students with “How to” questions and students need to write instructions on how to perform everyday activities (How to cook perfect rice for 4 people?
The article I picked for this assignment analyzes the authors viewpoint against the development of spoken language among children in two different school. The authors attempt to convey the importance behind oral language and listening skills in reception children. Included in the article are results of children in varies school showing the lack of language skills. The author works on suggesting intervention programs to have a positive effect on these skills that need improvement throughout the school education. Surveys and researchers believe that about half of teachers are decreasing speaking and listening skills in the past five years. Practicing skills of talking and listening are essential. Mentioned in the article, “language difficulties are that children have problems in three areas: accessing curriculum on language related tasks, interaction and social skills, and attention span towards learning” in the classroom (pg. 658). This article worked on intervention program for teacher to train students to improve their language skills on standardize exams. In my opinion, having the ability to speak is a way to communicate and share ideas and thoughts with others, and express feelings on how one feels. Listening skills are processed after we hear something. It involves one’s attention and decision to participate in a discussion and respond to message. Also, it requires the ability to focus on the conversation without being distracted, but having a meaningful connection with
Introduction: English is a global language and nowadays everyone has to focus on it. Our introduction clearly defines about it. Our research proposal is based on the difficulties faced by Gujarati medium students in learning English Language at Tertiary Level.
With culturally diverse environments, foreign students should have the option to learn in their language and English. When a student’s language is not kept alive, it could disappear. Some may say that the best way to teach un-native students is to teach them in only English, but cultures are diminished in this form. Students feel more comfortable when basic impressions teach the students in the way they lean at home, which is with their un-native language.
The second language learner that I have chosen to assess in my case study is an international student from Korea who is now attending year 11 and does the ESL course at my school, the Hills Grammar School. I will refer to my student with the name ‘John’ for confidentiality reasons.
At the heart of my teaching is the fundamental belief that every individual possesses a unique quality, and when encouraged, can contribute and enhance the learning environment of any classroom. As a teacher, it is my reasonability to foster learning while helping to empower my students to reach their fullest potential in developing their English ability. In each opportunity to interact with students both inside and outside of the classroom, I aim to motivate and involve each student to become a life-long learner of English. In addition to strengthening students’ academic development, I also aim for students to develop a greater enthusiasm for global communication and a deeper understanding of cultural awareness throughout the course of their study.
Children are taught their first language/s (L1) at home this is known as their mother- tongue. Children may be taught two languages at once from the time of infancy this is called bilingualism. Regardless of what these languages are each and every children will learn the same way. The learning process is done gradually and takes at least 8 years to become
Being accepted into the English Teaching Assistant Program for Ukraine will grant me the opportunity to interact and engage through teaching. Through my experiences in Nerekhta, Russia, I have gained a deeper understanding of how cultural can be exchanged through language and expression. While teaching sports I was able to stimulate the English learning process through reaction. While in the Ukraine I plan to do the same. Through conversation and personal thought I will engage each of my students in the class room on topics they find interesting. While in Nerekhta, I brought my students on small field trips where new vocabulary can easily be learned and then reiterated that knowledge in the classroom through discussion. By asking the students to speak on their opinions and personal experiences, language is taught, and although grammar can sometimes be infringed on when speaking in a new language organically, I will also assign writing which will force the students then to think through the grammar. I believe that once a student has the confidence to speak freely, grammar can easily be incorporated. When teaching I want to ensure the students have the confidence to speak first and then comes the desire to make their thoughts more understandable through grammar training. While in Poland I was able to both learn Polish while teaching English, and will do the same in Ukraine. I will engage with my students in English in the classroom but will allow them to teach me Ukrainian on
This is also one of the best ways to learn. Keep an idea in your mind that you are teaching what you are learning. Imagine how would you teach and speak loudly, even hearing those words will be helpful for you in
Students who are coming from other countries and are forced to adapt at a young age to a completely new culture are under an immense amount of stress. To throw these students into classrooms with fluent speakers with teachers who may not know their mother tongue, nor have the time to teach them English will only have negative effects in their development. The best way to support language acquisition in young students is to create a supportive environment where they can focus on learning the language and not the stress of not knowing
Language is an indispensable tool for communication. This is universally known fact. English has become a global language in the era of globalization. It is a linkage and is used vastly in all Indian and foreign libraries. The aim of teaching English in the secondary schools is to promote its pupils with sufficient knowledge of English and to aid them in their future studies and build confidence to find a suitable job. If we come to the present context, English is the language that is found in all corners of India. Now it is the language of the global trade.
Sometimes more than one method is used to bring out the anticipated outcomes in the language classroom where communication develops the key factor of teaching-learning process. Unless students learn to utilise the classroom method to express thoughts and feelings outside into the real world situations, the learning cannot be effective no matter whatever teaching method is applied in English as a Second Language classroom. Teacher- student role becomes the centre in bringing out the maximum within the limited time in a
One of the easiest ways to help a student learn proper speaking skills is to model those skills that are being taught. A student is more likely to mimic speech patterns and sentence structure from someone whom they respect than they are to simply learn those skills from a book or worksheet. Another thing

Also, help to acquire communicative competence in language learning this according to Dawes: "Through a speaking and listening approach, children can naturally achieve literacy without being burdened with ridiculous learning intentions". (Dawes 2011, p. 44).
It has been proven through research that young learners benefit from participating in both informal and formal talk throughout the school day. The aim of teaching a second language is to assist the young learner to speak fluently and communicate effectively in a second language.
