Energy is the lifeblood of modern society, but the major energy supplies are fossil-fuel generation, which leads to air-pollution and environmental issues. Then, there is an increasing need to develop renewable energy to balance the demand and supply. Electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles will be the effective method to decrease fossil-fuel usage and rechargeable batteries are one of the main strategies to power these vehicles. Rechargeable battery is one of the electrochemical energy storage technologies, which can be charged and discharged into a load and recharged many times. Compare to disposable batteries the rechargeable batteries have higher initially cost, but they have a much lower total cost of ownership and environmental impact since they can be recharged inexpensively many times before replaced [wiki].
