The German Culture

The German culture is a very sophisticated group of people in the upper Europe. German’s are widely recognized for there one of the kind environment that there society provides. I am going to research the German cultures customs, food, language, roles, clothing, music, and entertainment. This map of the cultural components will explain the main topics in the Germany.
The language of the German culture is very sophisticated with a wide vocabulary. Germany has a wide variety of languages spoken in their country like Turkish, Kurdish, Danish, Sorbian, North Frisian, and West Frisian (Commisceo, 2017). According to Commisceo Global Consultancy, the variety of languages only used by a little under five percent of Germany as ninety-five percent of the culture speaks its main language (Commisceo, 2017). Within the main language, the characters used to write the language are almost completely the same as English with the exception of a few. The few exceptions of the language are the umlauts and eszett that both have different meanings within the language. The eszett is the symbol for “double S” in a word (Paul Joyce, 2011). The umlaut is a symbol placed above the letters A, O, or U, to express different pronunciations of the letter in the word (Paul Joyce, 2011). Culture is part of special traditions and rites of passage. In this paper I am going to write about American culture compared to German culture. To do this I interviewed Michael Heidenreich, who was born in Berlin, Germany in 1943.
Another huge part of my life that comes from my German heritage is the foods that my family and I eat. Germans eat a lot of meats. The main meat that my family and I have is pork and sometimes steak. Pork is a very common food in Germany. We even have sausage occasionally. My whole family sits at the dinner table while my father and grandpa cook our dinners. The ability to inspire people to feel pride towards one’s country, can hinder the ability for people to realize what is morally right and wrong. Heinrich von Treitschke, a German historian, argued that Germans should view nationalism as the ideology to live by. Whether it involved having to fight in wars or allowing the monarchy to obtain the majority of the power, Germans had to do what is right for the country. Treitschke argued that if Germany was going to thrive among other countries, the people of Germany had to accept the fact that not all races are created equal. These ideologies proved to have a significant impact in the twentieth century due to the fact that Hitler used the same ideologies in the nineteen thirties. This eventually lead to genocide as many people were unaware of the negative consequences of nationalism. The ideas of one person can be devastating, as it can lead to a misconception on how to properly run a country.

Germany, a country rich in culture and heritage, yet plagued by the fallout of World War I and World War II, has progressed to become the centerpiece of the European Union and the world’s third richest economy. The first German Empire dates back to the Roman Empire starting in the 8th century AD. During the Middle Ages the German Empire fended off many attacks against their soil from the Hungarians and the Slavs. Fighting and power struggles continued until the 1400’s, when the modern world gradually came into existence with intellectual, economic and political changes.

In addition, Germany’s torn past over war of its modern day is very different form our own, but is very similar in many other ways. However to truly understand the unique culture of Germany, one must know the origin of the unique Art’s, Literature, Sports, Food and, Music, that Germany is known for.
