We climbed up the stairs out of the tunnel, wondering if our destination had arrived or not. My sister and I kept on asking each other, “Is this the terminal?” The place we climbed emitted a bright yellow hue, enhancing the reflection of the light from the golden granite walls. The golden granite walls made the building appear brighter and extravagant. The place we had arrived upon was humongous. Unsure if this was our desired location, we spotted a map in the center of the hall and headed towards it. The map holder resembled one found in subway stations. As we approached the map holder, at the top of the map was written, “Grand Central Terminal”. Afterwards not realizing where we were headed towards, we arrived at the balcony level. The first thing to catch the attention of a person was the ceiling which appeared to be in a dome like shape. The dome like shaped ceiling was about one hundred twenty five feet high, escalating greater than the ceiling we had stumbled upon before. This interior was known as the Terminal’s Beaux Arts. The ceiling was a turquoise color with the signs being outlined in gold leaf. The turquoise colored ceiling had somewhat of a semblance to the shade of a bluish and greenish sky. This was a zodiac mural created by French pastiest and etcher Paul César Helleu in 1912. The signs depicted in the mural ranged from October to March, some clearly recognizable as a crab, a fish and a Pegasus. The Milky Way, composed of countless stars, stretched from the southwest to the northeast corners of the building.
As we still stood at the entrance, opposite of us was the red and white striped flag of the United States. It hung from the ceiling with the help of unnoticeable strings. In the center of this scene was the ticket booth which was circular shaped. It seemed nobody can either enter or exit out of this tiny circular booth. From the top of the ticket booth emerged a colossal of a round golden object resembling an astronaut helmet. The reality of the astronaut helmet was that it was in actuality, the golden iconic clock
