When people wonder about Ancient Greece the first thing that comes to their minds is Greek mythology; gods and goddesses that have helped shape many historical events. “In ancient Greece, stories about gods and goddesses and heroes and monsters were an important part of everyday life.” (“Greek Mythology.”) The civilization showed that numerous characters and stories helped shape Greeks. The beliefs the Greeks had with mythologies was they understood the meaning behind all the characters that are known today. However, to the Greeks, they were not just characters, these were their gods and goddesses who gave them meaning and understanding of the world around them. Worshiping the gods and goddesses helped them with their religious rituals and the temperament of the weather. A famous wine-jar that was made during this time period was “Achilles killing the Amazon Queen Penthesilea, 540-530 BCE, black-figured amphora”. (Khan Academy) The civilization that they lived in grew around their worship and achievements.

"It's it obvious?" Nikki asked. "I want us to do a sexy photo shoot. It's not kinky. But I'd figure it would spice things up. Do you know how to take professional photos?"
According to various accounts of the creation of the world. Hesoids version describes that in the beginning, there was only Erebus, or darkness, Nyx, or night, and Chaos, who has been interpreted as the opening form which the other ancient characters arose. Then appeared Gaea, or mother earth, personified as the solid foundation of the world. Next, was Tartarus who is usually confused with the residence Hades, but was depicted as the father of some of Gaea’s children. Also appearing after Chaos was Eros, the source of sexual love/attraction that brought beings together to produce more children.
Greek Mythology, used to explain the unknown. The Greeks never had the technology to discover why things happened the way they did. For that reason, they would believe in stories about Gods and Goddesses that determined their everyday lives. They would worship and sacrifice living beings to show their respect for the Gods. Over time, they developed the story of how the world was created, their main Gods and Goddesses, and traditions and rituals.
The small group, led by Kodor, headed on to the entrance of the network of underground tunnels in Arazi. However, instead of the long corridor that went away from the cave, and from which other tunnels set off, a tall circular dome with a single opening —the one that they were using now— welcomed them. Theo thought of Ulder, the boys and his father. Would they have turned when faced with a non-entry way, or were they already on the other side of that wall of stone?
Iris looked at me with confusion as I held the doorknob of a shabby building, daring myself to twist it. The front wall stood out suspiciously against the almost clinical utopia that surrounded it for miles and miles - you look to the right, there were rolling green hills that
For many years, as long as the ancient stories of greek mythology have been around, the sculpture of Minerva has been in debate. Many believe the correct name for this sculpture should stay the same, which is Minerva. Minerva is in reference to the goddess of war, Athena. This could be a possibility with the helmet that lies beneath her foot as well as the crown that sits upon her head. However, I believe the name should be reversed back to Venus. Venus is the goddess of love, which is Aphrodite. Due to the lack of clothing, how the helmet is placed under her foot, and what I interpret from the crown, this sculpture symbolizes the true goddess, Venus.
In the beginning, the goddess of the sun looked upon the earth, and created animals to roam in the rays of her sunshine. She blessed the land with animals like squirrels, to scurry and scatter the seeds of the tall trees. She created the deer, to frolic in her sun bathed meadows, and graze upon the lush grasses. The butterflies and bees she created to spread the sweet nectar of the plants, and cover her green earth in vibrant colors. At last, the sun goddess was pleased with her work, and decided it was time for her to rest. When she took her leave of day, the moon god emerged and took over, creating the many creatures of the night. In contrast to the sun goddess, he created the owl and cricket, to perch in the trees and bushes, and fill the night with sound. He created bats, to fly through the night sky, and feed on insects, which he created to be their sustenance. While the moon god was busy creating animals to fill the night, he made a simple, easy to miss mistake. When he created the panther, he gave it a velvety black coat, to blend in with the darkness of its environment. He gave it agility to run from
The gods and goddesses of ancient Greece mythology behaved in very human ways. This statement is presented in many ways like; Zeus’ infidelity, their feelings, love and marriage, their strengths and weaknesses, and varied personalities. Zeus cheats on his wife, Hera, multiple times. One time this happens is when Zeus seduces a girl named Io. After seducing Io, he turns her into a cow to hide her from Hera. It does not work and Hera imprisons Io, who is later freed by Hermes. Another time Zeus is unfaithful is between him and a girl named Europa. Zeus watches Europa while she is in a field, Zeus transforms into a bull and seduces the woman. Zeus runs to Crete with Europa on his back and abandons her there so Hera will not watch her. Zeus’ perfidious ways are human-like because statistics prove that 11% of the population has
Why are rainbows made? To show us that even through all the pain and tears, there will always be that hope, shining through all. It all started when Zeus and Hera’s children were fighting more than the usual, and they asked Zeus’s brothers to come as fast as possible. “Poseidon
