With the Hindu Kush being 7, 692 meters in height and an essential geographical defense, leading imperialist powers such as the British Empire and the Czarist Russia race to seize Afghanistan. On two separate occasions, British troops from India were able to enter into the country and establish puppet governments for economic reasons. This phase of Afghanistan history is respectively known as “the Great Game.” However, those who existed at this time frame would not simply word it as “a game”. A Constitution was further adopted in October 1964, settling its way for Islam, constitutional monarchy and individual freedom. Drastic measurements were made subsequently in 1964, for the democratic Constitution was announced to be annulled. Prince Daoud, in the third phase and new decree, now had in his grasp the temporary government and the revolutionary council. Moscow, however, was displeased with Prince Daoud’s actions and resolved to remove him from power. The tactic attack that the Russians used to annihilate him was so effective that not a single message could be delivered to call upon half-a dozen troops to save Prince Daoud. When his time came to depart from life, Prince Daoud remained faithful in not submitting to the Soviets. Afghanistan is a nation of several nationalities. Its location has been strategically located as a bridge between Central Asia and the Middle East. Currently within Afghanistan’s borders are these major ethnic groups: Baluch, Chhar Aimak, Turkmen, Hazara, Pashtun, Tajik, Uzbek, Nuristani, Arab, Kirghiz, Pashai and Persian. The most dominant ethnic group would be the Pashtun which ran a line of royal blood. About half of the population are Pashtuns; Tajiks coming in second with 25%.
