Author,F. Scott Fitzgerald, in his novel, “The Great Gatsby,” a jazz age novel, recounts a man trying to get the love of his life back from years apart. It wasn’t an easy process but he was still trying. Fitzgerald purpose is show that not all love can come back like you want it to. People change overtime and it 's not anything you can do about it. He try to connect with his readers by using symbols of different colors to prove his point throughout the book.

To begin with F. Scott Fitzgerald uses many different color symbolism through chapters one through three. Nick was going to East Egg to have dinner with the Tom Buchanans by which he was invited just like others were. They lived in one of the richest neighborhoods that was very nice and was considered new money. “Across the courtesy bay the white palaces of fashionable East Egg glittered along the water, and the history of the summer really begins on the evening I drove over there to have dinner with the Tom Buchanans.” Nick seems to see a sense of cleanliness by describing how pretty East Egg is by the fancy scenery that he may or may not ever seen before. The color white may lead to the audience believing that the neighborhood of East Egg is full of rich folks that live the high life. There was party going on at Gatsby 's house, while it is going on people are drinking, having fun, and singing but there is people in there who are going through some hard times.”The tears coursed down her cheeks—not freely, however, for
