The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, writes a historical fiction novel and incorporates the Jazz Age throughout the text. Throughout the novel, Fitzgerald uses may literary techniques accompanied with comical satire about the 1920’s. Fitzgerald fabricates clear parallels between geography, social values, and characters. West Egg, East Egg, New York City, and the Valley of Ashes are all geographic symbols Fitzgerald uses to emphasize social status in that time era. Fitzgerald encompasses geographic symbols associated with different characters to further stress the significance of social status at that time period.
