The Great Gatsby Timeline
1892: James Gatz is born in North Dakota.
1910: James attends St. Olaf College for 2 weeks. James Gatz changes his name to Jay Gatsby.
1915: Nick Carraway fights in World War l
1917/1918: Gatsby and Daisy fall in love in Louisville. Gatsby leaves for war. Attends Oxford for five months.
1919: Daisy marries Tom Buchanan. The Buchanans move to East Egg on Long Island, New York.
1922: Nick Carraway moves into a rented house next to Gatsby in West Egg. Nick
Carraway goes to Daisy (his cousin) and Tom Buchanan’s home where he where he meets Jordan Baker (a golf player).
Nick and Tom go to Myrtle’s (Tom’s mistress) apartment for a small party that includes Nick, Tom, Myrtle, Catherine (Myrtle’s sister) and the McKee couple. Myrtle is slapped by Tom for not listening to him.

Tom Buchanan and Gatsby meet. Tom accuses Gatsby of being a bootlegger while Tom and Daisy attend one of Gatsby’s parties. Gatsby calls off his party because he has Daisy all to himself.
George Wilson finds out that Myrtle has had an affair.
Nick turns 30 years old.
Gatsby, Jordan Baker, and Nick go to the Buchanans home for lunch. Tom sees the connection between Gatsby and Daisy.

Scene One: Tom Buchanan and Nick Carraway walk through Tom Buchanan’s front lawn and enter the living room. Inside the living room Daisy Buchanan and Jordan Baker lounge on the sofa. Jordan Baker is trying to balance a book on top of her head while sitting on the sofa. Daisy Buchanan slowly sits up and walks over to Nick Carraway.
TOM, NICK, and JORDAN go to the site of the wreck and discover that MYRTLE was the one who was hit.
As the summer goes on, Nick gets invited to one of Gatsby’s big parties. He meets Jordan at the party and they meet Gatsby himself, a young man, a great smile, and tells everyone “old sport”. Later on in the party Gatsby asks to talk to Jordan Baker alone. Nick learns that the parties were all to get and impress Daisy. Gatsby asks Nick to invite Daisy over to his to tea, so Gatsby can meet her. When Daisy and Gatsby meet each other for the first time in five years it starts off awkward, then they start talking to each other. Gatsby tells her about how rich he is now and invites her over to his house. Daisy and Gatsby then begin the affair between each other as their relationship grows. As Gatsby is about to leave for war in 1916 he realizes that if Daisy finds out that he is poor she will leave him instantly, so he lies about his past and they make plans to one day get married, the two then slept together to seal the plan, sadly when he returns from the war in 1919 he has found out that Daisy couldn’t wait, and has married Tom Buchanan. Tom was her social equal and the choice of her parents. Tom and Daisy’s relationship is toxic and unhealthy, but they have no intention of trying to make it better and work things out. They met again in New York and took a taxi to the apartment that Tom had purchased for the two of them. Myrtle called her sister Catherine and the McKees that she and Tom were friends with on the phone and the six of them sat around in the apartment and got exceptionally drunk once they arrived. During this time, Nick learned about Tom and Myrtle, as well as the fact that neither of them could stand their spouse. Nick could hardly remember what had gone on that night at the apartment and the next thing he knew, he was in Penn Station waiting for the four o’ clock train to go home.
Nick and Tom were best friends in college, but hadn’t really talked much since then. When Nick visits Tom and Daisy one afternoon, he learns from Jordan Baker, Daisy’s friend, that Tom has a mistress. “‘Why-’ she said hesitantly, ‘Tom’s got some woman in New York.’ ” (Fitzgerald 15) This gives Nick reason to not like Tom and give him reason to tell Daisy, but he doesn’t. The next morning, Tom invites Nick to go to lunch with him in the city and Tom takes him to see his mistress-Nick does not want to, but he humors Tom. Tom’s mistress’ name is Myrtle Wilson. Nick does not agree with this, although he does keep it a secret. Nick listens to Tom and keeps his secret from Daisy, even though she already knows. Even though Nick develops a negative impression of Tom, he plays a role as a major confidant towards him.

During dinner at the Buchanan’s home, Nick brings up Gatsby, and Daisy’s eyes light up and she requires “‘Gatsby?’ demanded Daisy. ‘What Gatsby?’“(Fitzgerald 11). After dinner, Daisy begins to question if her romance with Gatsby is still a possibility; she sees Gatsby as a possible escape from Tom. Gatsby gives her hope for a better future and she remembers what it means to be happy
Nick takes a train with Tom to New York and on their way they stop at a dealership where George B. Wilson is working on his car. This where we are introduced to Myrtle Wilson, whom is George’s wife and Nick’s mistress and she joins them on their journey to New York. Once in New York, they go to Myrtle’s sister’s apartment, where they spend the rest of the day and evening having a party and where Nick is introduced to her sister Catherine whom knows about the affair. Catherine describes that neither Tom nor Myrtle can stand the person they are married to. The evening ends with Tom punching Myrtle in the nose for tauntingly saying Daisy’s name and Nick half asleep in the Pennsylvania station where he is drunk and waiting for the 4am train.
After Gatsby and his cousin Daisy find their way back in eachother 's lives Gatsby seems to manage to bring back the ¨lost love¨. Jordan a professional golfer who is Daisy 's best friend and is introduced to Nick at their dinner party, they had quite a connection that lead to helping Gatsby. Jay Gatsby, who's real name is James Gatz. He falls in love with Daisy Buchanan, in which she now married to a man by the of Thomas "Tom" Buchanan. Gatsby is a young military officer in Louisville during the time that, him and Daisy met before, he's shipped overseas. The entire time overseas, him and her wrote letter to one another, but Daisy had grown tired of loneness. She met Tom and he swept her right off her feet, and married her. Five years after returning back to the states. Gatsby is still committed to Love, and the moments that was once experienced in Louisville. So, Gatsby starts his illegal business and become wealth enough to move across the Long Island Sound from Daisy Dock. Gatsby hosted large extravagant parties at his home, often enough to get an name for himself in the community. Majority of the individuals that showed up the parties were not invited to attend, but Gatsby never turned anyone away. Nick is Daisy cousin, and the narrator as well. Nick is very eager to know exactly, who is Gatsy.
Nick still remembers this day two years later. He didn’t think of Gatsby as a friend, rather he thought of him as a Family member. Nick tries to hold a large funeral for Gatsby, but all of his former friends have either disappeared of simple refuse to come, like Wolfshiem and Klipspringer. Gatsby’s farther, Henry, came to his funeral. He was very proud of his son, he brought books that Gatsby had written. Afterwards Nick encounters Tom in New York City. Tom tells Nick that he told Wilson that Gatsby had owned the car. Tom talks about his minor struggles over Gatsby’s death. Later on Nick writes “They were careless people … and let other people clean up the mess they had made…” (179). On Nicks last day in West Egg he goes to Gatsby’s house
The days of their fairytale relationship comes to a rude and unexplainable end that leaves one of these love birds in a tough situation of having a lonely life. The day before a special day for any man or woman would love to have in their life-time,for the lovely Daisy Buchanan her wedding, She’s holding in her hand a letter from Gatsby and with a wine glass in the other preparing to enter her doomsday . The appearance of The Great Gatsby has vanished out of the lovely Jordan Baker’s life when she need and wanted him the most.

One day Tom invites Nick to go to town with him and that’s where Nick meets Myrtle Wilson, Tom’s low class Mistress from the valley of ashes. Myrtle and her husband own a small gas station and garage. They then proceed to go to Myrtle and Tom’s apartment they have together in the city. Myrtle invites friends and they all drink and have a good time together until Myrtle and Tom get into a fight over Tom’s wife, Daisy. In rage Tom gets angry and hits Myrtle breaking her nose.
