The federal government has approved guidelines on gun ownership which includes registration of all guns, proof of ownership and a clean background check. Immense portions of the population are in opposition of gun control and feel individual gun ownership is a constitutional right that should not be limited or controlled.

Most firearms used in crime and in gangland violence were purchased outside of the legal method and any attempt to restrict sales would not affect these users of firearms.

America has the highest total gun per capita in the world, which would amount to about 270,000,000 guns, or in other words 88.8 guns per 100 people (ProCon). Now, most states have common gun control laws which include background checks, waiting periods, and registration requirements to purchase or sell guns, but not all states require these. In order to stop innocent lives from being lost due to gun violence, guns should only be allowed to be purchased at a federal facility after a proper background check has been conducted by one of the federal agencies. There have been many shootings in the past few years and America has been trying to put more control on what guns people can buy, or if they can buy them at all. Before gun violence and crime became more common, there were not many rules on what was required of a person before they bought a gun, but due to the past shootings in America people have been more afraid of guns in general. Due to so many people being afraid, America has set requirements of people before they are able to buy a gun. Being able to buy a gun today is not easy but it is still not as hard as it may seem. There requirements a person must meet before being able to purchase a gun. For instance a person cannot have a criminal record nor can they have any sort of mental illness. Although like many rules these requirements have loop holes. One of them being proper licensing is not needed at gun shows and things of that matter. Even though there are some rules concerning guns it is still not enough to really help prevent mass shootings.

America's Gun control laws should be more strict in regulating the availability of firearms. The lenient gun control laws in America cause a higher risk of criminals committing acts of violence with guns, rather than preventing them. It is not difficult to buy guns in America. Background checks for purchasing firearms only take minutes, but when purchasing a gun from a gun show it is not

With all the states having different rules and restrictions, people are confused and gun laws are broken. All fifty states should raise the age to purchase a gun. This would be sufficient because many young people are too immature to handle guns and be able to control themselves with a deadly weapon. Gun Control is a form of restriction of firearm and firearm related products away from the people in the form of legislation. Many think that gun control is an honorable cause because they think keeping people away from guns will reduce the amount of deaths instantly and over a period of time. Also whenever people hear the word gun, heads instantly race towards negativity and violence. Many people believe think gun control is wrong and that it is not necessary, since many know that guns were not involved in a decent amount of the deaths caused each year. Also that it is not the gun to blame but the person using it as a tool to inflict evil upon others. While many other people disagree and think it is good because of the safety for others.

Some of the states that have the most stringent gun laws also have an extremely high gun related crime rate. Detroit has an extremely high gun related crime rate; in fact, it is second in the country. This like other major cities such as washington D.C. have an extremely high gun related crime rates. Places in the world like Switzerland, where every male is required to join the military for four years and is not required to, but encouraged to own a firearm, have some of the lowest gun related crime rates in the world. Criminals actually prefer the most strict gun laws because they are going to break the law anyways so it will only make what they are going to do easier and safer because no one can protect

Gun control is the restrictions or banning of firearms. Gun control refers to laws or policies that regulate the manufacture, sale, transfer, possession, modification, or use of firearms. In my opinion there will always be a debate about it. If I had to choose a side on this gun control debate, it would certainly be against gun control.
