The guns history: Samuel colt traveled to the United Kingdom because of Elisha collier’s revolving flintlock. He took the original design for the pistol and improved it when it seemed there was no problem Samuel Colt applied for a patent and then was issued a patent from English officials for his revolving pistol. (Patent Number 6909). Then after moving back to America he was granted an American patent for the revolver. Colt never said he invented the revolver but that he just improved upon early designs. His idea was to make every pistol by machine but the ability to replace each part as needed by hand. His goal was an assembly line for each gun to be put together by hand. After the panic of 1837 he was unable to sale almost any of the firearms.
