Kathryn Stockett authored the novel “The Help” in effort to recognize the extreme struggles of the African Americans throughout their day-to-day activities and way of life while presenting their several efforts to fulfill equal civilization rights within the white and black societies. “My granmama was a house slave…”Did you … ever have dreams of being something else?...”No” (Pg.167)” reveals the difficult struggles faced when wanting to rebel to fight for their rights but, this idea brought about a feeling of fear due to their current social status. The help deserved equal rights but due to the complexion of their skin they were viewed poorly towards whites. It was frowned upon and illegal for African Americans to spend time with whites outside
