There once lived a very large strong man named Thor. Thor was very lonely, he had no family or friends so he decided to go and get a pet. “I will get a pet troll and name it Gilbert” Thor said. There was only one problem with his plan, the forest where the trolls lived, was across the whole world. After thinking hard about his decision Thor tells all of the gods that he will set out on his long journey. The gods were very surprised and one god in particular thought that it was a horrible idea.
“You will not survive the harsh conditions Thor, you will die before you reach the forest.” Said Odin “I will try anyway” said Thor The next day Thor packs his things and heads out on his hard journey. First he must hike across the scorching

Thor has made it to the forest and is exhausted. He plops down under a giant fluffy tree and rests for the night. As he gets closes and closer he can see tiny creatures walking in and out of this house and wonders if these are the trolls he has been looking for. “Are you coming home with me” says Thor. The troll noddes. “I shall name you Gilbert” says Thor. The two set out on their long walk home. Meanwhile Loki has heard about Thor's new friend and is plotting revenge on Thor for chaining him up for all of those years.
Gilbert and Thor have made it home and are now were like 2 peas in a pod. They both are very exhausted and decide they should get some sleep. The next morning Thor wakes up and Gilbert is nowhere to be found. Thor soon notices a note on the front door and reads it. The note said: I have locked your dear friend up in the fiery land of Aage -from Loki. Thor grabs his hammer and darts out the door like a robber and runs all the way to Aage. Thor calls Gilbert. “Gilbert!!!” shouts Thor “Over here” says Gilbert. Gilbert is chained up to a rock and is hurting.
“Are you alright” says Thor
The little troll looks at Thor with his blue eyes and dies. Thor is so mad he can't control himself and smashes his hammer so hard, it creates mountains all over the
In my book, Magnus Chase: The Sword of Summer By Rick Riordan, A 16 year old homeless boy, Magnus Chase, dies and is brought to Valhalla by Sam the valkyrie, which in norse mythology, is a place where heroes go to live after death. There, he planned to leave, hearing that a sword that belonged to him, in 9 days, would be used by surt, a lava monster, to release the Fenris Wolf, causing Ragnarok, the end of the world. Magnus, Sam, and his new group of friends, T.J., Mallory, and X, go on an adventure to find the sword, and stop the world from ending. On their way to find the sword, they find Magnus’ old friends, Blitz the dwarf and Hearth the elf. He goes across many locations, including Midgard, Thors domain, and Fenris’ island. At the end,
Where they meet Loki and Uncle Randolph retrieving the Skofnung sword and cuts Blitzen with the sword and Magnus trying to heal him but it won’t work without the Skofnung stone and turns him into stone by shining sunlight on him without knowing it could be undone. He states “As I watched one of my best friends in the Nine worlds turned to solid rock” Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan pg 146. This is an example of how he wants his friend to live so turns him into rock and perseveres through it so they can find the
Loki, the God of chaos, is known as the “doer of good and the doer of evil.” He, like Cartman, is always looking for a way to cause havoc. Whether they intended to or not, they never pass up the opportunity. In the chapter “Thor and Loki in the Giant’s City,” Loki is seen telling multiple tales about his adventures with Thor at the feast, and is sure to highlight the things that make Thor look bad. For instance, his strength was no match to the dwellers if Jötunheim, and when he had to dress as a bride to retrieve his hammer, Mjölnir.

So it wasn’t that much of a surprise when he woke up in a hotel bed with no scaring from the accident. He was in the Hotel Valhalla, which holds the lives of dead hero’s Odin felt worthy enough to help him fight when Ragnarok (doomsday) comes. The girl on the horse was Samirah al-Abbas (Sam for short), daughter of Loki, and was a Valkyrie, whose job is to choose heroes who enter the hotel. Sam chose Magnus as someone who was worth to stay in the hotel. Yet when the head table saw how Magnus “sacrificed” himself they were not impress, yet nerveless when a soul enters the Hotel Valhalla, no matter what happens it cannot leave, the Valkyrie who chose the hero can be pushed, this causes Sam to lose her job, and the ability to fly. When given his prophesy Magnus knew what to do, teaming up with Heart, Blitz and Sam, he was going to rescue the Sword of Summer, and stop Ragnarok from happing, at least for a little
Thor got his Hammer back and returned to Asgard and fought Loki. Loki was with his mother Frigga in his fathers chambers when Thor got their. Loki had killed a Frost giant because he wanted his mother to believe that he didn't let the Frost giant's into Asgard. Thor made Loki admit to what he had done in front of Frigga, and Loki said he only did it because he was the rightful heir to the throne not Thor. Thor was fighting Loki on the bridge when the bridge broke, Loki was falling but Thor grabbed his brothers hand before he fell, Odin was there holding Thor from falling.
In the movie Thor, made in 2011, the main character and beholder of the “Mjolnir” Thor Odinson is the Asgardian God of thunder. He is the controller of the storms, causing rain, wind, thunder, and lightning whenever he wants, using his magical hammer, the “Mjolnir”. Thor displays the hero archetype by showing heart, bravery, and caring for others when he is able to overcome all of the obstacles thrown his way by his father and his brother Loki. However, not only does he have to overcome the obstacles thrown his way by his family, he has personal issues he needs to overcome. A lot of the issues he has to face head on in the film are due to being hard-headed and
This masterpiece, “Thor and Loki in Giantland”, is taken from the Prose Edda. The Prose Edda is a collection of tales written in Iceland during the early thirteenth century. The title is derived from the old Norse word meaning great grandmother. Combined with the Poetic Edda, these two books make up most of Scandinavian mythology. The author, Snorri Sturluson, was an Icelandic poet, historian, and politician.
Hans immediately set out and came upon a castle and was allowed to stay for the night. The lord of the castle asked Hans where he was going to which Hans replied with to the griffin. The lord of the castle hearing rumors that the griffin knows everything asked him to ask the griffin where the key to his chest is. Hans said that he would and the next morning left. Then he came upon another castle where he stayed and there was a girl who could not be cured. After hearing where Hans was going they asked him to ask the griffin how to cure her and he said I will. The next day Hans came upon a tall man in a lake who had to carry everyone across the lake. The man asked where Hans was heading and he replied to the griffin. So the tall man asked him to find out why he has to carry everyone across and said he would. After he had crossed the lake he had arrived at the griffin’s house but only the wife had been there at the
Thor facing his opponent conjures up a mighty storm and strikes the Jormungandr with a powerful strike of lighting. The attack sent the monstrosity into a frenzy, as the serpent gnashes at the god from every angle. His now swaying body ripples the oceans around him causing the waters of the deep to rise above the farmlands. Thor attempts the parry each attack with his own with little success as he has been struck through his side with a single fang. The venom climbs through the ever-mighty god of Thunder’s side, feeling as though his veins are to become ice. Fearing the worst, the great god musters his hammer to swing down upon the great serpent's head with a speed incomprehensible to a trained man’s eye, cracking the skull. Jormungandr, blinded, beaten, and broken gives his final regards to the mortal plane as he reaches up and poisons the skies, kill them. With a booming crash the serpent sent wave upon waves, quake upon quakes, fear among fear, and death upon deaths to Midgard. The waters now cascading down even the tallest of mountainsides shall bring the endtimes about to these people triggering the
The film highlights the fact that “a primitive culture like the Vikings might have worshipped them as deities,” to give credit to Thor’s odd behavior around the 21st century humans (Thor). Rather than an all powerful god, as depicted in the myths, Thor is a superhumanoid from another universe. Thor, Loki, and the other Asgardians are depicted in this way because over time Thor was changed from a pagan symbol into a Christian one. In the conversion of Northern Europe, Thor and his hammer were often morphed into Christ and his cross in an attempt to make the change in religions easier (Arnold, 64). In the comics and subsequent films and TV series, Thor is further removed from the pagan religion by being turned into a superhero. Loki, too, is removed from the religion by being made into a villain the hero must fight to prove himself worthy. He is distanced from his odd, ambiguously evil characteristics, and subsequently Loki is labeled as a villain who “inspires both anger and genuine pity” (Anonymous). Loki’s motivations in the film come from an internal struggle of acceptance, rather than just a chaotic
Once upon a mystic time in norse culture, two gracious giants by the name of Aegir and Ran decided to host a feast, but only if the God’s provided them with a kettle large enough to brew mead for all of the invited guests. In all of the Nine Worlds, the Gods knew that Hymir, a giant himself, was the only one to bear a cauldron big enough to prepare a meal fit for even the halls of Asgaurd. Thor, the brawniest God who controlled the skies and lightning, was known as the one with the most knowledge of being accustomed to the giants, so he volunteered to deal with Hymir and bring the cauldron to the Gods on the seafloor. Thor traveled to the house of Hymir in order to obtain the cauldron. Hymir, in the meantime, slew three bulls for the two during Thor’s stay.
The giant was smart though and brought his trusty steed, Svadilfari, to help him hull the boulders to the construction site (Allen, Saunders, “LOKI”). Freya became anxious and Odin even threatened to put Loki to death if they were caught in the unpleasant deal. In an attempt to save his hide Loki took the form of a pretty mare and lured Svadilfari away from his work. Loki kept the horse away until the time had passed for the work to be finished (Lindeman). In his mare form Loki became pregnant and gave birth to an eight-legged foal which was named Sleipnir. Loki presented him as a gift to Odin and regained good favor with the kind of the gods and his son, Thor (Allen, Saunders, “LOKI”).
If one is familiar with the “Thrymskvitha”, then they know that Loki, the god of mischief, steals Mjolnir, the hammer which belongs to the god of thunder, Thor, and gives it to Thrym, the Jotunn king. The giant king, in turn, wants Freyja, the goddess of love, to give him her hand in marriage. Freyja refuses to do this, and in a twist of fate for the god of thunder, he is convinced by Heimdall to adorn Freyja’s bridal gown and travel to the hall of the Jotunn king to reclaim his stolen hammer. Once the Jotunn king brings out the hammer to
Loki is the embodiment of, “Of course it was Loki. It 's always Loki.” Loki is unquestionably the biggest question mark within Norse mythology. He is portrayed as a scheming, mischievous deity who has no real loyalties, his role is shrouded in mystery; what was his purpose in the ancient stories. Loki’s character arises questions about his role; was he a plot device, a foil for the Aesir, or maybe he was meant to be used as a warning to child? Within the pantheon of Norse gods, he was an anomaly; his fellow gods are mostly one dimensional and Loki is anything but. Loki is the antithesis to the culture the Norse gods represented; honor, courage, fidelity, truth, discipline, hospitality, industriousness, self reliance, perseverance. Loki is
