Have you ever pondered what may lie beyond our solar system? Perhaps you’ve decided that there is no way anything could be out there, in the empty, seemingly endless void we call space. However, perhaps there is other life out there, life more advanced than us, perhaps life just now exiting what to us would be the stone age, the possibilities are truly infinite. Personally, I believe there are other beings out there in the vast expanse. On August 15th, 1977 at 11:16 PM EDT the Big Ear Radio Telescope located at the Ohio State University received an unknown radio transmission that came from somewhere seemingly within the Sagittarius Constellation, bearing the hallmarks of extraterrestrial origin. Eighteen years prior to this, Two Cornwell …show more content…
We already have the International Space Station, where some cosmonauts live in, and in the vacuum of space temperatures reach roughly about -270.45°C, or -454.81°F (From “The International Space Station will soon become the coldest place in the known universe… for science!” by Sebastian Anthony), so surely, for them, having some inhabitants on a planet, one that is earthlike only just frozen over, it’d be a tad bit simpler. Next, we can take a look at the Fermi Paradox. The Fermi Paradox states whether or not we are alone in our galaxy, and if not, where is everyone? In ‘life’ there are filters, or rather, great barriers for life to overcome. For example, some filters we may have to go through in the future include Nuclear War, and Climate change. Some ‘filters’ that may explain why we haven’t found any signs of advanced civilization may include things such as Advanced Technology exists, but when activated, it ends up destroying the planet. The last words of every advanced civilization would be something like “This new technology will solve all our problems once I push this button!” If this is the case, then chances are, we ourselves could be much closer to the end than we are to the beginning of human existence. Another filter could be that there is a type 3 civilization (Simply put, a civilization with some of/the most advanced technology imaginable) somewhere out there, and when

With all our knowledge of everything around us, overwhelming as it may be, there are still a lot of aspects that are unknown to even the smartest scientists. Did you know that humans know only 5% of the entire universe? Yes, everything we know about the Earth, the Milky Way, and all the planets is barely even a fourth of what comprises the entirety of the universe. Knowing that, it would be illogical to say that the creatures on Earth are the only forms of life in the universe. Today I will tell you about unidentified object sightings, close
We live in a universe that is about 46 billion light years old. In a world, as massive as ours there must be some form of extraterrestrial life out in the galaxy. For thousands of years ancient peoples, such as the Greeks, have wondered the same question. Are we alone? As our technology advances, things such as videos and photographs are surfacing of people claiming to see such alien life. Whether it is an unidentified flying object, or if it’s from someone claiming to see an actual alien, there are thousands of people that believe they have seen proof. Some also claim that the government is hiding things behind our backs, like the Roswell UFO incident for example. Though many people refuse to believe in the existence of alien life forms until they see evidence, the fact that multitudes of people have eye-witness accounts, the improbability that we are alone, and the idea that we have thought of aliens so long, bring forth the evidence that proves something is out there.
Humans tend to be narcissistic as a species believing that they are the only intelligent beings in the universe. The universe is so large that why shouldn’t there be other life forms somewhere in the great black space. There have been many instances in time that humans believe they have seen extraterrestrial beings such as Roswell, New Mexico. However one of the biggest theories about aliens is that they built the great Egyptian pyramids.
However, due to the technological evolution and the industrial and mechanical revolution, sky was not an unsurpassable limit anymore, but what lied beyond that sure was. By the time the first telescope was made, space’s conquest has been a goal that first world’s nations have been trying to fulfill. Simultaneously though to that goal’s fulfillment, a question popped up that created numerous new theories and propagandas. Are we alone in this vast universe? And if we are not, how does it look or behave those who coexist with us?
The Milky Way in which we live in is expanding 3.25 million light years per second (Moskowitz). By the time you finish reading this paper, the Milky Way will have expanded by 1.9 million light years. This might be a lot but the closest galaxy to the Milky Way is 13.2 billion light years away. This means there is a chance extra-terrestrial life might exist by the time you finish reading this paper. While saying this, the galaxy is made up of two hundred billion stars in which NASA has discovered. Each of these stars has at least one planet orbiting it. By saying this if the Sun has one habitable planet orbiting it, what is the chance of another star having a habitable planet circling it? Peter Behroozi, a Hubble fellow at the University of California Berkley talks about this issue, “For every grain of sand there is, there are ten other planets out there like Earth” (Cofield). Astronomers have only seen our galaxy, and there are galaxies larger than the Milky Way and more
This universe is so vast, diverse, and complex that makes it hard to think that we are truly alone out here. There are more than 100 billion billion earth-like planets, which makes about a hundred earth-like planets for every grain of sand in the world (Urban)! But if that’s the case, why haven’t we encountered any extraterrestrial beings? It’s strange how the possibility is off the charts, but because we’ve got nothing so far, we’re not even sure if they exist. So… where is everybody?
Abstract: Scientists claim that other life forms do in fact exist based on probability. The conditions necessary for life are likely to be present on various other planets. Signs of possible life have been found in material from outer space. Much research has been dedicated to proving the existence of life on Mars. SETI is a program entirely dedicated to finding and establishing communication with extra terrestrials. If other life forms are found, communication with these beings will be a difficult task. Laws to protect humans from the dangers of extraterrestrial beings are already in effect. Although contact with alien beings has not yet been made, technology today may make it a reality in the near future.
Many people believe in the existence of creatures living in outer space, but do they really exist? Past years have recorded sightings of flashing lights and noises in the air, many claim that these are due to the fact that aliens do indeed exist and have advanced technology beyond what Earth has to offer. We’ve been doing a lot of research, about these aliens. It all started the day that Coach Ayala said these very words. “One day I looked in the sky and saw a spaceship.”
The Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence(SETI) has been searching for life for more than fifty years and have yet to find anything (Waldrop 442). SETI has ran on $2.5 million annual costs from powerful telescopes to hundreds of dishes worldwide and have managed to find no signs of other life forms (Waldrop 444). The search of life outside of Earth remains to be unanswered and now many ask, where are they? Through SETI’s large budget and expensive equipment the possibility of life on other planets becomes very slim. However, the lack of evidence for any possible forms of life does not justify the possibility of life forming in other unobservable places. The possibilities of life formation in other solar systems can be countless. In “Where Are They?,” Nick Bostrom states that there are over 100 billion galaxies in what we can observe of the universe and our galaxy alone has 100 billion stars (Bostrom 2). This alone provides the reason to believe that somewhere in our observable universe there are many planets with similar conditions and probability of life forming. It took Earth approximately 3.5 billion years to allow life to form that started with single celled prokaryotes to humans (Bostrom 3). The prokaryotes only formed after earth provided an ideal state in which life could be formed. It is also known that many of the galaxies contain stars and planets much older than ours (Bostrom 2). This gives endless amounts of time frames in which life of began in galaxies far way or nearby. The points of evolution become countless within each galaxy, yet the visibility of technological life civilizations like ours is nowhere to be seen. This means there is something preventing these civilizations from passing our current level of civilization. This known as the Great Filter, a theory, in which specific steps are prevented in the timeline of the evolution of
Society today has gotten so dependent on technology if it all cut off today then it wouldn't be able to go on or even barely survive considering how over populated we are. For example, in the movie wall-E they were all dependent on technology they didn't know how to move or walk or look beyond the screens that were in front of there faces and just drove around on those chair almost slaves to technology on how much it controlled them and not only that they got every food they could want in a cup shake. Society in wall-E they were all lazy and completely useless without the simplest idea of fun or what fun was in early society. These examples of wall-E makes it not hard to believe that the end could actually be
Since the dawn of civilization, humans have always wondered if they are alone in this extensive collection of galaxies called the Universe. Perhaps, they are not alone. Is there intelligent life among the cosmos? The Milky Way galaxy is just one of nearly a hundred billion galaxies. With such a vast number of galaxies that are billions of light years away, the idea of contacting another form of intelligent life seems impossible. After the invention of the radio in the early 20th century, researchers began to detect unexplained signals.
The universe is uncomprehendingly vasty and there is thought to be trillions of galaxies in which trillions of stars consist within them. It is thought that intelligent extraterrestrials exist and may have visited the Earth to make contact with people. This narrative gives insight into what how these interactions can occur, if this were to ever happen.
The argument suggesting life existing on other Earth-like planets has been present since man first looked into space and questioned his own existence and the existence of others like him. Today there are many theories on the existence of intelligent life elsewhere in the universe, but only one theory goes beyond them and into an even larger realm. The contents of this theory, known as the “multiverse” theory, suggest that humans on Earth live within one universe of many others that reside within a primordial vacuum containing many other universes (Jenkins and Perez). Each of these universes possesses potentially different natural constants and physical laws that govern them differently, thus calling forth some logical questions. First,
Many people who live on Earth are close minded to what is really out there in the universe. They cannot even begin to fathom the vastness of it and how Earth is just a tiny little speck compared to everything else out there. From the planets to the stars and out towards the edge of the unknown, we can only see what science provides us with. From this, we know that we are nothing but a tiny planet located in a solar system of millions in a galaxy of many more in the universe.
