The Holy Spirit Helps Us Communicate When I was a child, on fourth Sundays we didn’t have Children’s Chapel, so the kids would go sit up in the balcony in the big church. When no one responded or the folks looked bored or confused when Pastor McCalep started to preach he would throw his head back and shout “Help me Holy Ghost!” Of course I and the other kids cracked up laughing, but now I understand that he was asking for the Holy Spirit to help him find the right words to say to the congregation so we would understand his point. It is said that leadership and the ability to communicate is born and learned. As Christians, we know that the third and most important element is the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said that he would leave us a helper. The Holy Spirit is the help that allows us as Christians to communicate to others in power the truth that we have been taught. Paul says in 1 Cor. 2:1-5, "And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.” The same way, the Holy Spirit helped Paul get over his fear and speak in front of a large crowd, he still helps me and all Christians feel confident when we have to speak to
