The Quran or Qur’an is a religious record which Muslims believe to be the holy word of God, delivered to the Prophet Mohammed through the Archangel Gabriel. Muhammad memorized The Qur 'anic word, as he didn’t write his own manuscripts. Scribes wrote the passages of the Qur’an, editing them during Mohammed’s lifetime. The text of the Qur’an has not been changed in over fourteen centuries and is considered to be as original as when it was scribed; it is considered perfect in language and style (Svensson, 2010).
The document is meant to be verbalized, rather than read. The Qur’an is often recited, rather than read, as the direct speech of God giving the listener physical connection to the Divine. The Qur’an is an important fixture to Muslim belief because it is considered to be a sacred document to be handled respect (Svensson, 2010).
Islamism is a religious ideology that demands strict attention to the laws of Islam, rejecting outside influences. The term covers broad arrays of fundamental and revival movements. Islamists have adopted a strict interpretation of these laws, sharing in the belief that Islamism offers an example for an ideal society. To achieve this way of life, regimes should be reformed or overthrown so that Islamic law becomes state law and ideology, shaping politics, economics, and social justice. Islamists believe that Western influence is corrupting the true laws and customs. The resulting deviation of authentic Islamic values is considered to be idolatry.
