Heaven, The Home Of The Soul Now you would think that a fellow who has preached thousands of sermons could, with all the ease in the world, talk about any Bible subject he chooses. I don’t feel that confident about any Bible subject, but I am more confident about certain ones than others. Anyway, I don’t feel completely adequate to talk, or write on the subject of Heaven, The Home of the Soul. I suppose it is because so little is known about God’s home. Where would you begin if you were preaching a sermon on heaven? Would you go to the words of Job where he said, “If a man die, shall he live again” (Job 14:1-2)? That wouldn’t be a bad place to begin, would it? Or, would you go to Job’s statement when he said, “Man that is born of woman is of few days, and full of trouble. He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: He flees also like a shadow, and continues not” (Job 14:1-2). Perhaps, David’s words at Psalms chapter seventeen; verse fifteen would be an especially good starting place. David said, “I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness”. And yet, I have never been able to get all out of that word “satisfied” that I think is in it. Maybe I just don’t know enough about the language. Perhaps, I haven’t found the right source. The Greek word which is translated “satisfied” in our English Bible means “glutted, overfilled or stuffed”. When I awake in thy likeness I will be overfilled with gladness.
