The Idea Of Freedom In The United States

America is the universal symbol of freedom. But is it really free? Does the history of the United States stay true to the ideas of our forefathers? Or has the definition been altered to fit American policies? Has freedom defined America? Or has America defined freedom? I believe America was at first defined by freedom, then after time, America defined freedom, altering the definition to fit the niche it fits in, but still keeping key components so it still seems to be staying true to the ideas of America’s founding fathers.

True freedom is not something that can be given. It is something that every single person must discover for themselves. If a person were set free, though still thought of themselves as a slave, they are a slave. America is a country that thrives on freedom. Though numerous people throughout the United States take this privilege for granted.

All around the world people talk about freedom; America has more freedom than Russia, twenty-one years old as more freedom than a fifteen year old. What does “freedom” mean? Many have different definitions of “freedom”. For some it could be the freedom to speak and act as you want and others it could be to go where ever you want.

Freedom to me is being able to learn from your mistakes. If I did not have freedom, I would have to do what the top officials tell me I have to do. They would tell me what books to read, what religion to study, and even what food to eat. I wouldn’t

Freedom to me means that i can got to school each day to get a good education which is a good thing because i can oneday use my education to get a successful career so i can support myself when that time comes for me the only way that we get good education like this is because some veterans sacrificed themselves for the greater good of our country and that made it so we all can live how we want.

Everyone has their own version of what the definition of freedom is here in the United States but the basic definition it is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. Under the circumstances of following the laws. As time has gone on it has helped freedom come along way with all the different eras and the ups and the downs that occurred that has shaped us to that “American Dream” of freedom we have today. There are many events that helped shape Americans freedom today and these are just some of the events that really helped push the rights we have today, woman starting to get jobs, slaves getting freed, Native Americans sharing land, segregation, equal rights to all and passing the law for gay marriage.

Freedom, is one of the greatest things on Earth yet only a few people experience it. Webster’s Dictionary defines freedom as: “the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action.” Around the world, people will live their whole lives without being completely free. I am fortunate enough to live in a country that is free. I am very thankful that I live in America, because having freedom is what makes this country great.

When United States was founded, it was signified as the most progressive and political movement in Western Civilization, which has continued to change and form from all the racial, ethnic, and religious diversities within society. Through the freedom that was first generated from the separation of the church and state to the manifestation of the Constitution on December 15, 1791, it has changed the course of history forever. The expression of the people’s legal rights was the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, which was adopted and later put into action in the 17th century. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion...” This bill gave people a chance to express their boundless desires, simple freedoms and more notably religious actions in America. American Christianity has deteriorating moral standards and blindly accepts everything within society.

Freedom is something that everybody wants, it has been fought for by many countries for many years. When I think about freedom I think of all the things that we have the ability to do that other countries or other societies don’t have. From wing able to voice our opinion to being able to go see a movie like dead pool or other movies like that, which, in many countries seeing it wouldn't even be an option. Freedom is in everything, we live and breathe freedom.

Freedom is a state of mind and being in which a person has no barriers to hold them back. These barriers can be financial, emotional, mental or physical. I think that if someone didn’t have these barriers, they don’t necessarily achieve freedom, but they have the chance to. To go beyond this though, freedom needs to first be achieved within. When someone is free in their heart and their mind, I think they’ve achieved true freedom. In short, freedom is the freedom from restraints and the freedom to do what they please.

What freedom means to me is that people risk their lives to allow us to have freedom. When people think freedom is free, they tend to get the feeling that they can do whatever they want whenever they want, without following the law. Freedom is the right to do something within the law or the authorities. Freedom allows you to be able to vote, slaves are free in most places, women did not have many rights ,not a lot education, and religious freedom. Religious freedom is the right to believe in what you believe in.
