The screen painting named Women in a Palace was created in the late 17th century of the Qing dynasty. This screen painting displays the tragic events that would be foul Wang Zhaojun one of the four beauties of China. Since she would be delivered to Xiongnu a barbarian chieftain by Emperor Yuan to make peace and order between them. This painting was probably a dedication to her because of the struggle she will lead in the future. Further more this painting displays the emotions of the painting through the colors, the message that is trying to reveal through the scale of the screen painting, and the effort put into every detail of the painting.
In the screen painting, Women in a Palace definitely display its emptions through the colors of the painting. For example, the color Green is used a lot in the painting, which I believe, means that the painter wanted to display a new life that she will lead. I believe this because if I think about it for a while you think green is color of new life and she is getting a new life by getting departed from the castle. Then comes the color red, which probably means the difficulty that Wang Zhaojun would lead in a new area that she knows nothing about. Next we have the color brown, which probably means comfortability. The thing is that the Emperor Yuan took this away from Wang Zhaojun because like any other woman in China she had no other choice but to comply with his choice. Then finally we have the color gold, which is the meaning of power
