One of the main goal of a pavement designer and constructors is to provide a smooth road, so as to facilitate the traffic movement. But due to the environmental factors, pavement start to show signs of distresses, and when these distresses are accompanied by increase in traffic, these lead to increase in accidents. In this paper, the main focus is to develop a model to check the dependence of number of accidents on the pavement roughness and traffic conditions. For this, data was collected from Arizona Department of Transportation for all the interstates passing through Arizona. Correlation matrices were constructed and then regression analysis was performed to develop the model. It is found that number of accidents vary directly with increase of traffic and indirectly with increase of roughness. Conclusions were made based on the results of data analysis.
