Globalization has had far reaching consequences. The effects of globalization can be felt today in nearly every country on the planet. Globalization is the increasing economic interdependence among countries and their organizations as reflected in the flow of goods and services, financial capital, and knowledge across country borders (Hitt, Ireland, & Hoskisson, 2013). As the world economy continues to evolve, globalization will continue to shape and mold the global economies direction. With the technological advancements occurring, globalization is moving at a faster pace than ever before. Since the rise of the computer and the internet, the world has become interconnected in a way that interconnects every country and continent on the planet. The internet itself began in the 60’s and was created as a military experiment to try to network a series of computers and help share data. In the early days the speeds at which data flowed was very slow, now data flows at dizzying speeds and helps get business done across the global (A Brief History of the Internet, n.d.). For this paper, I have chosen to focus on how globalization and technology have impacted the McDonald’s Corporation.
