The Impact of Kindness
One thing that people today overlook so often is the simple but powerful act of kindness. You can just look at the drivers on the road and tell that kindness is not their first priority. I have discovered that kindness can change the community for the better.
Having said that brings me to my first point. People today are always in too much of a rush. If you listen to Jacqueline de Loos’s Ted Talk: “The Impact of Kindness,” then you would hear her say, “What difference is five minutes going to make in a 24 hour day?” If you are late to something because you were helping a little kid look for their dog for five minutes, and you explain why you were late, you’re probably not going to get into trouble. I also like another thing she said in the Ted Talk: “Just go out and change the world and be kind, because in reality it’s not

When we went on the community service field trip to the Union Rescue Mission, the people working there didn’t look like they were in the greatest mood. After we had been working for a while they all looked like they were happier than they did when we got there. Also, whenever one of our books got accepted to be sold on Amazon we would all cheer, and the first time we cheered the workers were all confused because they hadn’t ever seen anyone do that before, but by the time the second book was accepted they were cheering with us. When we left they told us we should come back! Another example is the first time I did an act of kindness for my log, my mom was not in a great mood when she got home from her school, but when she realized I had done the dishes, she was really happy because that meant one less thing for her to do. That happened all throughout The Kindness Project when I was doing my acts of kindness for my log, people ended up in really good moods when I did something kind for them. The happier people are the more positive the community will be as a
It is important to strive for kindness because, it makes people feel appreciated, and it
People often perceive kindness in different ways, some think of the smaller things and some the larger. Acts of kindness are like wonders of the world they make it a better place. For example mountains some see this grand rock that the sun reflects off of in the morning and others see a glorified piece of rock. Smaller acts of kindness are just as important as bigger ones. Usually when one thinks of the word kindness some act or person comes into mind and my person is Leticia Chavez a.k.a Ducky.
The short story"Aha Moment" by Julia Alvarez demonstrates that the point is not to pay back kindness but to pass it on. The story expresses the idea that simple acts of kindness can make a great impact on people both mentally and physically. It can turn frightening and tense situations into assurance and aplomb. In paragraph 8, it is stated," no one screamed,no one panicked. I could hear small pockets of soothing conversation everywhere." By holding the hands and by chatting about everyday life, the passengers emboldened each other and created an optimistic atmosphere. The author points out,"someone was comforting me and kept asking me,'Are you okay?" According to Julia if someone does something good and beneficial for you, you should pass
I don’t think many people truly take the time to appreciate the kindness they are given. For others, I believe they should understand how meaningful their compassion is.
The famous greek writer Aesop once said “No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted.”In today's society kindness is look upon as rare act and is sometimes questioned sincerity. No one really realizes how simply holding a door, sharing, or even giving a compliment can help better someone else's day or even life. In “Enrique's Journey” acts of kindness are scarce for immigrants trying to cross the border. The closer and closer immigrants get to the border, kindness decreases as violence rapidly increases. Those who are lucky enough to experience these kind acts, big or small, are extremely grateful. The idea of knowing things could go worse instantly, allows people to appreciate and also give an act of kindness in another form to someone

The quote “We remember the kindness more than ever, knowing that our relatives who immigrated to this country after the Iranian Revolution did not encounter the same America” (Dumas 92). The quote shows the difference in how Iranians were treated in just a matter if a few years. As Dumas writes she paints a picture of how kind she was treated in her first years of being in America, but in the final paragraph of the story she takes all the new American kindness away.
I believe that for majority of people Pre-Conventional (level 1) is what we base almost all of our decisions on. We imprint these concepts into our children from a very young age, we teach them that if they don't clean their room they will lose something, and that if they act and do as they are told they will be rewarded. I don't believe that there is truly very many acts of real kindness. Though some do exist, it's almost the exception to the rules of behavior. We live in a society that thinks if they do something nice for another it must be filmed, or ranted about. You see these videos everywhere some stranger buying a homeless guy a meal, or giving him clothing. If you need so desperately for acknowledgement for doing the right thing, it
The mission of Firs of all, treat them with kindness program is to help the immigrant community adjust to the US culture. We want to create an educational conscience in this particular community, where they understand that America is a beautiful melting pot of cultures and we need to embrace it and learn how to get alone. This comprehensive program teaches immigrants how to approach all the differences between the American culture and their
This inspires me to show the act of kindness through a positive mindset. My true intention is to spread positivity towards others in different
It may not seem like one is making a big difference, but even the smallest acts of kindness can brighten someone’s day. In Stave 2 of A Christmas Carol, the Ghost of Christmas Past shows Scrooge how Fezziwig, Scrooge’s old employer, was so kind to his employees. To this act of kindness Scrooge states,”The happiness he gives, is quite as great as if it cost a fortune.” When Scrooge sees how generous his employer was and what a positive impact he made on others by being generous and giving, it leads Scrooge to change his ways and become a nicer person that has a beneficial impact on others. As Morrie said in the article,“Tuesdays With Morrie: The Eighth Tuesday We Talk About Money”, “Devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.” Moreover, caring for others and spreading kindness not only to oneself but also others, whether it be by donating to charity or just plainly going around and doing a good deed for others, is the key to happiness. No matter what it may be, even the smallest movement of giving can make a big difference in someone’s life. Just by putting a smile on someone’s face, a positive impact on the world has been made. Devoting yourself to something and being a better person will help bring accomplishment and joy to life and make a long lasting impact on those around you. This act of being kind and generous to others will have an everlasting positive impact on not only the receiver, but also the
Being engaged in community support activities often brings the purest smiles. I am apart of Key Club and National Honor Society. Both clubs encourage students to volunteer in the community. Some of my experiences
With the world being more globalized than ever, it is surprising that you hear less and less about the kindness of people. if people would be as close to each other as they were mobily, they would be kinder and enjoy themselves more! It makes you wonder if humanity is becoming more selfish, even with more interesting ways to communicate. Luckily, there are still ways to hear about good deeds. For example, I read the book Chicken Soup for the Soul, by Jack Canfield over the summer. One of the stories, called “Failure? No! Just Temporary Setbacks”, by Dottie Walters. She was running a page of ads through her local newspaper, and was having trouble getting an ad with a very popular drug store. But she didn’t give up, and finally got it, and now runs an advertising company of her own! This gave me the courage to not give up this summer when I was helping an injured duck.
I wasn’t aware of the importance of doing good for others, until recently that I witnessed it with my own eyes. It all started when was at Chicago, a random man helped out a homeless man and bought him some food. I noticed as I was in line that the cashier then gave the helping man a free choice to pick something he wanted due to the action he did. After that day I began to make an attempt at helping out more and being a better person in general.
Treating others with kindness benefits everyone involved. For example, in the story “Angel in Disguise”, the author states "We'll keep her a day or two longer; she is so weak and helpless," said Mrs. Joe Thompson…” She was starting to open up to Maggie and realize that she loves her as if she were her own child. This helps lift Mrs. Thompson’s sprits and shows her that she can feel feelings. This shows how being kind to Maggie made her a more loving person in the end. Additionally, in the article, “Teaching Kindness,” the author states that “As minds and bodies grow, it’s abundantly clear that children require a healthy dose of the warm-and-fuzzies to thrive as healthy, happy, well-rounded individuals.” This is proof that children need kindness
