The story is about a boy, named Oskar. Who is trying to cope with the loss of his father, who died in the attacks on 9/11. He discovers a key in his father’s belongings and tries to find the matching lock.
The world knows America better than us Americans know of it. Through emotion and painful events such as this one America has came to better understand itself and the strengths that it has. America has one of the strongest military personal in the world, allowing us to be able to react to attacks such as this one. Peck states “Since September 11th, I believe we’ve been living out a national melodrama” (737). A western movie was created by President Bush “Wanted: Dead or Alive” casting Osama bin Laden causing the defining moment of Americas melodrama allowing people to be aware of the attacker by posting posters throughout the United States. America has sent military troops over to Iraq in search of the attackers killing innocent citizen in order to voice our opinions on this matter. “The best assurance that the US will not again be the object of comparably horrific terrorist attack is an equitable distribution of global capital that moves wealth more evenly though out the world and generates genuinely reciprocal forms of cultural
Starting off with 9/11, this was one of the largest terrorist attacks ever known on United States soil. There were potential reasons of what lead up to the attack. Part of what caused the events to occur happened is what happened after World War II. Once the war ended in 1945, the Jewish people would rush to Palestine in hopes of seeking refugee their. As of 1947, the United
•One of the historical day in the United State of America is 9/11 one of the horrific incidents. The time prior of 9/11 was unheard of in this era due to the lack of experience in terrorist organization in our country. Mostly, in the 80’s terrorist activity during this time oversea bombing and airline hijacking. The World Trade Center was bombs by the violent terrorist extremist that cause serious injuries and even deaths. The Oklahoma City bombing was the most deadly attacks during the 90’s on the United States soil. There was a lack of intelligence prior to the 9/11 for the government, first responders and law enforcement. The United States was unable to plan, implement and coordinate vital information and to organize the various agencies.
As we know the people who hijacked and crashed the plane were 19 al-Qaeda members under the control of Osama Bin Laden. Many people think that this was just a terrorist attack because al-Qaeda had two big grudges against the US which are called motives. For example, the first piece of motive that the terrorists had in the United States was because the US supported Israel in the Persian Gulf War. Because we helped them, the terrorist lost respect for us ad decided they were going to make us pay for helping the Israelites. Another reason for terrorizing the United States was because the al-Qaeda terrorist crew hated us because we had luxuries that other countries didn’t have such as freedom of speech and press. They were jealous because in America you have a choice of what you want to be. To back it up, in “9/11 Attacks” it states, “Reportedly financed by the al-Qaeda terrorist organization of Saudi fugitive Osama bin Laden, they were allegedly acting in retaliation for America’s support of Israel its involvement in the Persian Gulf War and its continued military presence in the Middle East.” Because the United States helped Israel in a war that they were involved in, the al-Qaeda group retaliated by hijacking and crashing into the twin towers killing 3,000 people. al-Qaeda doesn’t care who anybody is and because the U.S.A supported their enemies, they had to punish us. Even though it may seem as if the demolishing of the twin towers could’ve been an inside job, al-Qaeda had motive and they wanted to make the US pay for supporting their
9/11 is an event that happened September 11,2001. 2 planes were hijacked and flown into the twin towers where many people were killed. The Americans instantly thought that this was an act of terrorism from the Al-Qaeda terrorist group from Afghanistan and Iraq. An act of terrorism to American is a sign for war with this being said American retaliated. I Thought that the way the retaliation was handled was uncalled for.
When I think about 9/11 I feel two main emotions: anger and sadness. The way I am angry in this situation is most likely different from everyone else’s type of anger. Most people I have heard talk about the tragedy of 9/11 are/were angry at Osama Bin Laden or just any Arab-Muslim person, but I’m angry because of the focus on American deaths. Yes, I know almost 3,000 Americans died, including representatives from 115 countries, but what happened to the millions of innocent lives taken by our military because of this anger sweeping the country. Sure, everyone’s anger and fright caused by this event brought the United States together as one, but at what cost? I do agree, though, that the 9/11 attacks were works of terrorism, but if we really
Are you a proud American? Do you know the bad events that happened in our country in the last 30-40 years? But the worst event of all, was the terrorist attack from al-Qaeda on the World Trade Centers in New York, and the Pentagon in D.C. on September 11, 2001, otherwise known as 9/11. People were always blaming the terrorist and people in the Middle East for this tragic event, but evidence has shown that it wasn’t just the terrorist. The 9/11 attack was a wrongful doing, yes, and it was all the governments fault.
In my opinion, the September 11th terrorists attacked the U.S. because it was their goal to kill as many people as possible. Another reason I believe they attacked the U.S. is because they have extreme hatred for the western ways. Majority of things that the United States does on a day-to-day basis goes against what the extremists believe in. Before the attacks, the U.S. should have implemented stricter rules while flying. Before September 11th, flying was much easier to do then it is now a days. If they had same rules that they have now they might have been able to prevent September 11th from happening. U.S. has implemented several laws since September 11th to try to prevent such a disaster from occurring again. Such as the Patriot Act which essentially makes it easier to spy on American citizens to try to intercept any information on terrorism. In my
September 11th 2001, the day that changed America forever. On this day, 3,000 Americans including civilians, police officers, firefighters and paramedics were innocently murdered by al-Qaeda terrorist. Commercial airline planes were used as missiles and flown into the World Trade Center in NY, the Pentagon in the nations capital, and in a open field in Pennsylvania. For America being the most technology advanced nation in the world, along with having the largest, strongest and most advance military, it is hard to understand how these horrific acts of terrorism could have happened on U.S. soil. After the World Trade Center bombings in 1993 and the Oklahoma City bombing at the Murrah building, one would think that we would have learned for
Have you ever think of the US should take the responsibility of 911 attacks? September 11 attacks, the deadliest terrorist attack in world history, were a series of airline hijacking by nineteen militants of an Islamic extremist group Al-Qaeda. The hijackers, along with the suicide bombers, seized four US commercial jets and crashed them into US’s landmarks, Twins tower of World Trader Center and the Pentagon, at 8:46 a.m. on September 11, 2011. The notorious Al-Qaeda chief Osama-bin-Laden masterminded the attacks. According to CNN News, the September 11 attacks killed 2,966 people and injured more than 6,000 citizens in New York City (CNN). Moreover, as reported by Health Department WTC’s Health Registry, the attacks brought on the post-traumatic stress disorder, and they concluded that 1,140 people who worked near the Manhattan and the New York City at the time are diagnosed with cancer caused by exposure to toxins at Ground Zero (Bendix). On September 11, President George W Bush addressed a plausible but flawed explanation, “America was targeted for attack because we’re the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining” (The Boston Globe), which indirectly reveals that Bush is blaming Muslims for the fault for 911 attacks. While most of the Americans believe that Muslims are fully responsible for the 911 attacks, the U.S involvement in Middle East affairs and the exploitation of Middle East resources sparked off
The attack of 9/11 was not just an attack on the United States of America but the entire world. Not just the twins tower were attacked, but also the pentagon was attacked. These people just went on another hard day of work, doing their important jobs. The sad thing was that
I think the terrorists attacked the twin towers because they wanted to make a huge negative impact on the United States. The twin towers in my opinion resembles ‘American Economic Power’ so it was a very easy target to make a horrible impact on America. Therefore, I think the Muslims who were behind the terrorist attack just wanted to gain publicity to make sure everyone was aware of what they are and there country is capable of. Therefore, it was a sign of act of war from members of the Al-Qaeda. Which I think had a lot to do with the hate and hostility Osama Bin Laden had on America and U.S troops. Many countries tend to hate America because our military is very advanced and have many high quality weapons. I think when 5,000 troops were sent to station in Saudi Arabia, which took a major part in the whole thing. We were intimidating so they were plotting on us from the start.
Many people remember September 11, 2001 as a day when 19 Muslim extremists hijacked four commercial airplanes and flew them into sundry buildings and areas across the United States. This includes the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., a field in Pennsylvania, and the place where the most damage occurred, the North and South Twin Towers in New York City. Over 3,000 people were killed in these attacks, mostly workers in the towers and the Pentagon who were of all races and religions including Muslims, Sikhs, and Hindus. Calamities like this should bring people together so that they may comfort one another after a great loss. Instead, it drove people apart out of fear of their safety in their own homes. People should remember this day as a tragic event that took the lives of many innocent people, instead many Americans remember this day as the day the Muslims attacked America. This is why Muslim Americans have become pariahs post 9/11 because, of the amount of conflation that has occurred with Muslim Americans and Sikh Americans, the amount of anti-Islam behavior practiced in America involving various ideologies of Islam, and the amount of disrespect shown towards Muslim Americans in America on a daily basis.
September 11th is a day that nobody will ever forget, it was such a terrible tragedy and we lost many people because of it. This attack was made out of hatred and tremendously impacted the government and citizens of the United States. This attack was rooted in a hatred that has existed for thousands of years between Jews in Israel and its Islamic neighbors. Because of the United States support for Israel and the Gulf Wars where the United States stopped Iraqi aggression, the United States has become a target of Islamic terrorism. It was such a serious and harmful incident and it forever changed American Society and by influencing the country to make new laws and as a result, its citizens have become more aware of their surroundings.
