How do my strengths from the Gallup StrengthsQuest test affect my personal life, my academic success, and vocational calling in college? Now my five top themes are Harmony, Includer, Communication, Adaptability, and Consistency. These five strengths are a way for students to discover themselves and then flourish with this newfound self-awareness. I will apply these themes to my life to evoke academic success and my vocational calling through college and the rest of my life. To apply my strengths to my academic success I must first understand what academic success and vocational calling means. In college, my academic success emerges from doing my best in all my classes no matter what which means graduating from the honors college with a 4.0, staying in the honors-nursing bridge program, graduating in 4 years with my registered nurse license, and graduating with my dream job already lined up. I believe I will accomplish these goals because that is the physical epitomization of doing my best at this moment. Now my best may change when I apply my strengths to life and then my goals will grow to encompass greater things. In addition to this, my vocational calling by God is to help those around me. Now in college this looks like volunteering through the Baptist Student Ministry or conversing with my friends about their issues. These strengths combined with my academic goals will bring about academic success and my vocational calling. My signature strength of communication will
While being responsible for our academic success, prioritizing work to achieve goals can be valuable to students without a success driven mindset. Responsibility and action along with ethics help set the path for proper results and set standards for academic achievement. As I explore this new endeavor in my life, I will outline my failures, successes and the lessons I have learned along the way.
Achievement is a great strength to possess, both professionally and personally. It is my internal drive that will make sure I accomplish any goal I set for myself, as well as handle the obstacles that come along the way. I use this strength every day at work by setting daily goals and standards for myself and working hard to achieve them, as well as go beyond what is expected. I get great satisfaction out of a job well done. Additionally, this strength goes well with my other strengths, as people know they can count on me for any task I am given. This strength will definitely assist me in my academic journey, as I will not fail.
Strength’s Finder 2.0: I learned a lot from taking this assessment. My top 5 themes are as followed; Harmony, Consistency, Analytical, Adaptability, Intellection. Although I was unaware that I held these strengths, I am now confident in saying that I indeed excel in these areas. As far as Harmony goes, it is true that I do not like to spend all my time in one area. I also do not like to take sides in conflicts and would rather stay out of it. I am not good with confrontation, unless I have to be. Consistency is also something that
Discovering ones strengths is an important process that every young adult should strive to achieve, that is why I was excited to take the Gallup Strengthfinder Assessment. This test aims to highlight each individual’s unique assets, which is possible by completing a short evaluation. Then the poll produces the top five signature themes out of thirty-four possible options. Like many, I was very eager to learn something new about myself. In learning my critical thinking traits, I have discovered that I need to get the facts together and evaluate them based on my ethical characteristics. This process of thinking has directed me to understand that things have to be understood and communicated correctly in order to paint the picture of information that I want others to see or hear. This plays an important part in my professional life. When preparing for presentations or work reports, all data needs to be analyzed and
Education is one of the important things in today's environment. Moreover, people are more concerned about the literacy rate in their country compared to the past. Also, the parents want to give their children the best possible education, and the government of the countries is also trying to provide best education to the students because the future of a country depends on the literacy rate of that country. There are many factors which have great influence on academic achievement such as the education environment, the facilities available to students, and the personal life of the student. However, nowadays countries are showing more interest in reducing the class size. It seems obvious that smaller classes have significant influence on the academic achievement of students. The positive influence of class size on academic achievement can be shown by circumstantial evidence, anecdotal evidence, and research that were carried out in order to illustrate that academic achievement can be attained through class size reduction policies.
A child's main focus in life has always been being successful in school in order to achieve many riches in adulthood. Many people have supported these children to reach this goal by preparing them for about two decades. In return, their family members expect them that these clueless kids return the favor by going to college. Some have put their immense effort beyond their reach, but unfortunately there is a vast majority of students that do not have what it takes both academically and emotionally to earn a college degree or to even meet their own personal standards. Although they received all the help they could get, their parents forget to even consider that what matters the most for these young adults to go to college is their own willingness
Although student-athletes are supposed to be attending college to receive an education, for most their academic success takes a back seat to athletics. Due to the athletic stressors placed on student-athletes and the demanding time commitments they have, it is difficult for them to get the best academic experience possible. It typically takes the average student-athlete six years to graduate rather than the normal four years and 88% of all student-athletes obtain their degree by the age of 30 while the average student graduates by the age of 21 or 22 (Brown, 2011). The Adjusted Graduation Gap (AGG), a model that compares athlete’s graduation rates by conference as well as compares them directly to the rates of non-athlete students at the same institution. According to the AGG, in most conferences,
There are millions of students currently enrolled in colleges and universities around the world trying to obtain a valuable education that will propel them to secure a high level paying job that will lead to personal and financial success in life. But as one thinks of the countless hours that are needed to receive high grades in the classroom, one must ask, what is the value of those high grades? Is a person that succeeds academically truly prepared to enter the workforce and be successful? Does a person with a college education have the skills and knowledge necessary to actually put all the things that they have learned in a classroom setting to practical use in the real world? The variations of my strengths are expressed in many aspects of my daily life. Being a university student is a part of a lifetime experience that adds on to the many aspects in life that molded my identity and characteristics. My desire for success in life is a core strength of mine, because my goal is to achieve success through being determined, and to make sound choices. My journey in life will be influenced by my passion for life. If I am ready every day for the unexpected and unknown, then I can reach my long-term goals. What is academic success dependent on? This has been the question for many psychological studies. To answer this question qualitative research needs to be done to investigate what hinders or promotes academic success. This essay will investigate these factors by way of interviews, while framing them in the context of current research. It will then be demonstrated how the Job Demands-Resource model can be used to inform such a study. First though it will be shown why it is of the utmost importance to identify and understand these factors, in essence why such research should be conducted.
A practical virtue that I feel is very important for everyone to exemplify especially students is that of ambition. For students this virtue can be directly applied to their academic pursuits. It’s important for students to be committed and passionate about their studies. Though, ambition can quickly be tilted off of its perch on the golden mean. If a student is too ambitious and tends to have perfectionist like qualities it becomes much easier for that student to get frustrated quickly when he begins to struggles. Once this strong sense of frustration kicks in the odds of this students decided to give up are immediately heightened. This is an unhealthy amount of pressure to put on oneself, and this mentality can be very difficult to detach from once you have sank into its clutches. On the other hand if a student is content with passing with the minimum requirements, then it is quite likely that that student will not retain much of the information that was covered in his class. It is important for a student to be driven in their pursuit of knowledge, but they must find the proper level of ambition to make sure they will have the highest chance of succeeding.
I learned a lot about this area of leadership by completing the activity on effective school correlates. I learned that many of the successful schools are alike in that they all implement common effective practices. I also learned that to be an effective school, you should have a mentality of continuous school improvement. Things may be going good for your school, but to be an effective school you will continue to look for how to do the good things better, or you will look at what areas you still need to improve on to help all students learn.
for me, these talents are represented through my top five strengths that were given to me from a test I took. Two of my signature strengths that I think best fit me and are the ones that will help me be successful are Competition and Analytical. I think that having the competitive nature will always help down the line in life. When having the competitive nature my talent is valuable because it will influence and even push people in a group to achieve more than others.
