What have you chosen to research and why? I knew I wanted to research something I was passionate about for the development of my MDP, because I would be more motivated and inspired to create something that I enjoyed working on. That’s why I have chosen to look into the issue of animal cruelty in the fashion industry. I have always been an avid believer that animals deserve the same rights as us, and that it is inhumane to be killing animals for fashion. Therefore, I have chosen to research the foundation PETA, as the exploitation of animals in the fashion industry is a key area that they focus on in their plight to help animals worldwide. PETA is the largest animal rights organisation in the world and focusses of the four main issues of animal cruelty in the clothing trade, food industry, laboratories and entertainment industry. They are often seen performing public protests to campaign against animal cruelty in the fashion industry, especially during fashion weeks. Their influence has spread to high end fashion industries such as GUCCI which, as of October 12th 2017, have gone fur free. I would like to focus on the production of fur and how it harms animals. I am passionate about this issue, and I strongly believe that we have no right to be killing animals for fashion, as there is no need to be wearing fur.
