As a child, I grew up going to church every Sunday and being involved with the church community. My faith is a large part of who I am today, because as a Christian, my worldview is based around God and His word. I believe He created everything in the universe, including us, and that He wants us to be with Him for eternity. So throughout my college search, Christian colleges have been at the top of my list.
Attending a Christian college would allow me to be surrounded by others who share my faith and will continually point me back to Christ. This would help me to grow in my relationship with God and further develop and strengthen my beliefs, since the people and community a person surrounds themself with can have a considerable impact on his
Why College Matters To God chapter focuses on your values and principle and growth of christian colleges. It explains how harvard college was founded based on christian tradition educations. They had pastors that focused on other subjects like foreign language, mathematics, history and etc. Few decades later Ivy league universite were found. Students had to memorized the lecture and repeated back to their tutor some. And some students were forced to attend college by their parents. This chapter also focuses on we should read the bible and focus on other subject that god had created. In the old times college were created slowly and then it followed a trade of catholic college. The presidents were christian ministers and professors who were cable
The article “Why College Matters to God” discusses the differences between a Christian college as opposed to a secular university. Rick Ostrander says that the Christian worldview is the biggest difference. The way that we understand the world shapes the way we think and act. Often we are not aware of our worldview unless we are actively trying to think about it. College is a part of life that shapes our worldview, which is why choices about where to go or what to do as it pertains to education is important.
Including my spiritual experience at CBU, I will be able to understand my religion more. Including, that all the staff members being 100% Christian, I could ask a question that I may have and the could help me find an answer. Having to attend the school's chapel I know that I can get closer to God and understand his word, and be able to follow in his footsteps that will help me grow as an adult. With this spiritual growth from attending CBU, will be vast and helpful with me growing into a mature and responsible
1. The author (Ostrander) emphasizes that students should not stress out over choosing a major. He tells us that what one majors in is less important than the overall qualities, knowledge base, and the skills that one develops. Ostrander also points out that a major is much less important than the skills that people gain by using a quote from an executive, “I look for people who take accountability, responsibility and are good team people over anything else. I can teach the technical.”
I believe Lewis University requires their students to take a theology class to help us better understand Christianity from a different point of view. They want us to explore things about religion that are beyond the norm. For example, we wouldn’t examine Gods existence in church, but in a theology class we will. The majority of students in the country attend public schools. In public schools we do not learn about a specific religion. Public schools are to diverse and there is a fine line on how much a school allows its teachers to teach. Lewis, being a Catholic and Lithuanian school has the ability to require students to take a theology class. They have the power to do so because when students enroll with Lewis they are aware that it is a
The most important (well second to a good education) I am looking to find in a college is a good community. My whole life I have grown up a Christian, I have been involved in my church for as long as I can remember and my family has always been very supportive when it comes to my faith. However, being a Christian in high school has been hard. I currently go to a small charter school, and although the peer pressure isn't as present as it would be in some big schools,
I have wanted a college education for many years, but haven’t known where to begin. Once I looked into Christian Colorado University (CCU) I knew I wanted to attend. I want to be a part of a community where I can earn an education while being able to share my faith in God with other students. I feel that being accepted into Christian Colorado University would be the first step in advancing my education, and my faith. I would like to be able to be a part of a university that allows me to learn academically, and strengthen my relationship with God. Overall, many experiences in my life have changed me. However, the miracles in which I witnessed at IHOP, has given me stronger faith. Now I am finally ready to begin my college education. I think attending a school where I can connect with others in terms of faith would be a blessing. I look forward to this journey and opportunity at CCU. I plan on pursuing Theology as a Major. My experience at IHOP led me to want to learn more about God. I have the confidence I need, the spirit of the Lord living within me, and I know that with God the impossible doesn’t exist. Thank you, Erika
Going to Catholic school allows me to grow in faith as one body of Christ. Our school, St. John Neumann, allows us to go to mass twice during the school week and on holy days of obligation. Also in our school we have religion class every day. This has allowed me to grow and flourish in my faith. This school has allowed me and my class mates to grow in the body of Christ.
Living in a community and abiding by a statement of faith that reflects the shared values and behavioral expectations of that community. In wanting to be surrounded around other people that have the same believes as myself I feel I will be able to grow as a better Christian and able to do more for the community. Also, experiencing new subject and activities in learning on how to do more things for the community that I might have not thought before. This goes to my next reason is to grow from the experience that the university provides. The university will provide many new lessons in faith and beyond that I will be able to apply anywhere I go and be able to help other no matter what. By reinforcing my faith in a Christian school Azusa Pacific university I will be able to learn in faith and be developed into a person that when I came in the
Attending Colorado Christian University not only will assist me in obtaining a higher education but learning to share my religion with others. I look forward to applying my beliefs to my profession. I am hoping that CCU will be able to assist me with this. On more than one occasion, there have been moments where I have hesitated encouraging a patient to pray or have faith. If my patients are able to see what religion has done for me I hope that they can strive for what I have. Prayer has done wonders for my life. I am aware that not all prayers are answered the way we want them to be but other times prayers are answered for more than we asked for. God always works in mysterious ways. My mother has always told me that God has placed a bright light in me that was meant to shine. I strive for others to see my bright light and spark a curiosity for what I have. Being a Christian nurse is the perfect opportunity to educate about God. My patients are often vulnerable and looking for something. God would be great filler for whatever these patients are looking for. I am sure that CCU gets students everyday striving for a higher education and a better idea of what God has to
Looking back at my life to where I am now. I can honestly admit if I did not come to Community College my life would have been different. Here at community college I have made the most out of my experience I not only saved a significant amount of money but, furthermore I have grown not only with myself but with my grades as well. I struggled with a numerous of things in high school. However here at college I actually took the time to listen and observe. I have made friends and individuals that I can honestly call my family. I have taken the initiative to progress in my chosen fields.
Going to college, is where your journey in life really begins. Choosing the right college for you is one of the biggest decisions you make in life. I choose California Baptist University to enhance my studies, meet people pursuing the same passion as I am, and become closer to God.
The first goal I have is to understand the scriptures in the Bible and grow in my faith. When I started to look at colleges, I didn’t even think about attending a Christian college. I contacted a junior college in a nearby town to see what they had to offer me. By the grace of God, they recommend me to CCU. At the time that I enrolled, I didn’t realize that I would be required to take Bible classes. At first, I wondered
Attending Saint Mary’s College has been very difficult for my family and I financially. Coming from a low-income family, I have had to make many sacrifices in order to relief financial burden for both my family and I. One of the sacrifices I made after my first year at Saint Mary’s was to live at home and commute. I knew this would reduce my bill by a lot and it would be a great way for me to continue on this journey of furthering my education. Commuting has been very difficult since the resources I need are not as close in hand as they use to be. My first year in college I could not afford to buy any books, but I had the school library with in a walking distance where I could check out a book and take it back with in the 2 hours limit. Now
I am writing this essay concerning myself and my experience that will take place with Colorado Christian University. I believe CCU will be a very good place to start and pursue my education. Just to know that its a Faith Based Organization and College is good enough for me. I have been wanting to get back into school to further my education for a long time now and because of many obstacles and procrastinating on my part has delayed the process. But I believe that if its going to happen for me and my family then its now or never. This will help enhance my knowledge in what I already know to help me become A better Pastor and In the Educational Field. Just to let you know a little bit about myself I am the Senior Pastor and Founder Of The Worship
