Part A:
In New Zealand has a lot of Catholic social organisation. In this assessment I choose Caritas as a Catholic social organisation.
Caritas Internationalis is a catholic organisation and social service. Their mission is to work to build a better world, especially for the poor and oppressed. Caritas has social service organisations in over 200 countries. And I will identify Caritas in Thailand because Thailand is my homeland and Thailand has a lot of poor people. Many people in Thailand need the helping from organisation and I think Caritas Thailand is a great organisation to service people. Caritas Thailand is not only help or service people, they teach about the Catholic teaching to the people too. Also people will get the Catholic social teaching from Caritas Thailand and this Catholic social teaching is important for live.
Caritas Thailand is set up in March 1968, Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Thailand (CBCT) had established commission for relief and development. At home or abroad, Caritas Thailand is able to deploy immediate and effective humanitarian relief to people in needs. It has recently work in close partnership with the global Caritas network to provide humanitarian aid to thousands of Syrian refugee, providing foods and medical cares.
Caritas Thailand’s manager include providing cares and supports to the elderly and the disabled, developing sustainable agriculture projects and exploring methods to prevent child trafficking and exploitation.

Subsidiarity and participation, work with local communities to aid and assist people to better develop their knowledge in decision-making so they can better respond to their own needs. The common good, preference is given to developing programs which look to promote the common good in their community. And solidarity, through which Caritas act on by reaching out to those who are most marginalized. Another church organization that helps to restore the balance and reflects the Catholic social teachings is St Vincent de Paul society. They reach out to the most vulnerable in communities and assist people in need no matter the culture, religion or political beliefs. Reflecting on these actions, Vinnies shows all the Catholic social teachings by serving the poor with love, respect, justice, hope and joy, and trying to shape a more just compassionate society. Through this, they serve Christ and walk in the path of
Catholic Charities provides service to people in need, pushes for justice in social structures, and calls upon the entire church and other people of good will to do the same. Catholic Charities agencies across the country witness to the love of Christ by helping people in need and by serving their communities. Catholic Charities USA is a national organization that offers support to member agencies, provides disaster relief and promotes poverty-reduction through research and legislative reform. It's listed as #15 on the top 50 largest charities on the U.S. according to Forbes.
The Samaritan’s Purse is a “nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world...” (Samaritan’s). Not only does this charity provide aid to the destitute people of pagan countries, but it also provides the love and nurture of Christ Jesus to the lost souls of the world. For this reason, the Samaritan’s Purse is favored among Christians around the globe, although the Christian faith is not a requirement to donate to the cause of one’s choice. There are over twenty ministry projects one can donate to or even volunteer to be part of, including the following: Operation Christmas Child, The Greatest Journey, US Disaster Relief, and Children’s Ministries. Imagine
the Catholic community in the United States. CRS eases suffering and provides assistance to people in penury in 93 countries, without regard to race, religion or nationality. They are programmed touch nearly 100 million lives. CRS has been helping people in need for more than 70 years.
The Catholic Church has long helped those in need. The Church's love for the poor has long been part of her constant tradition. The Church urges us to go the extra mile and help those in need. The church has held many prosperous charities. The church has also eheld many food drives and other types of donation events. They do this quite often actually.
From looking at this contextually, we are able to look at this charity in relation to the ideas of liberation theology. This concept became very popular throughout history, giving a main focus to the actions of Christians in a community to those who are treated wrongly, not however, by a fault of their own but the structural sin of where they
As John F. Kennedy said, “ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country”. This world does not survive on only looking out for ourselves and the Salvation Army has proved that. We all need help once in awhile in some way. It becomes full circle once it is realized that in order to help ourselves, we must as help those around us. The Salvation Army is partnered with a number of different groups to include Project Able, Family and Emergency Services, Angel Tree, Spirit of Giving and Red Kettles (Salvation Army Representative Discusses
The ILS mission statement is strictly secular and does not invoke religion. So even though Catholic Charities is a Catholic organization, it operates under a philosophy of helping those in need. Catholic Charities says that it treats all its clients equally and never bases its service decisions on a person’s religious beliefs since religious indoctrination is not a part of the ILS vision. ILS serves any refugee or immigrant, regardless of any religious belief.
Their purpose of the Red cross is to help people from all around the world who are in need. It does not matter what country they are from or what the situation is.
The Canadian Red Cross Society is a non-governmental organization that provides food, water, shelter, and survival gear to those in need. I think that they are very helpful because not only do they help Canadians in need, but they also donate the money to help other countries around the world that suffer from medical problems, life-threatening diseases, recent natural disasters...etc. They have programs in different cities, some of the programs include aboriginal support services, community housing support, community support services, emergency and disaster services, first aid and CPR, health equipment loans, migrant and refugee services, nutrition and transportation, senior support services, swimming and water safety, violence, bullying and
Caritas begun in Australia in 1964 and is the Latin word meaning love and compassion that grew to become the world’s biggest humanitarian agencies. The Catholic Agency for Aid and Development work together with the poorest of the poor to live a life of dignity, in an organisation that helps these people become self-sufficient so that they do not rely heavily on charitable funds. When referring to the big issues of today’s society Caritas work to break the chain of poverty and injustice in over 30 developing countries. These organisations provide a glimpse of hope to many struggling communities, a sign that things will get better. One issue that Caritas is largely focused around is that of climate change, which is discussed firmly in Pope Francis’ Encyclical.
There are many charities, some of them are: animals, community Development, Education, Environment, Health, Human services, International, Human and Civil Rights, Religion etc.
The role of the Catholic Church going to the peripheries is huge for the community. First off, the Catholic Church helps those in need by donating to people who don’t have shelter, or people who don’t have food or water to drink. They also help by holding volunteer work, so people who want to help those in need can by being there. Another thing the Catholic Church does to help those in need is praying. Some people get together to help those in need by asking the Lord to help them. Others pray for them by themselves to help for those in need. The Catholic Church is very generous for being there when people are in need. The Catholic church greatly represents the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy. They would help feed the hungry by bringing goods to those who need it. The Church can give drink to the thirsty by not wasting water. The Catholic Church helps people to shelter the homeless by collecting supplies they need. They can clothe the naked by donating clothes to those who don’t have enough. The Church can visit the sick and imprisoned giving blood and spending time volunteering at nursing homes. They bury the dead by sending a card to to someone who has lost a loved one. Finally, the Catholic Church give alms to the poor by donating money, like a the poor box in the Church. The Spiritual Works of Mercy can also represent the Catholic Church helping those in need. Overall, the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy really represent how the Catholic Church helps those in need, and the Church is a good role model for all Catholics alike.
The Catholic Church took on a more significant role as a” provider of social services from the mid-nineteenth century”(Considine and Dukelow ,2009,p.15. The Church strongly endorsed the principle of Subsidiarity, supporting the belief that areas concerned with provision should be managed at local level, by various community based groups.
