Should society censor the books teens read
Stories are the back bone of human intellect cave men started by writing on the walls of their cave to tell a story to their families and to keep them entertained. Then society went on to writing on birch bark. Now we type on a computer and print into a book of many pages of wood pulp bound together to sell our work to millions of people to tell a story that is meaningful, just for someone to go and possibly ban people from reading your story. It just is not right. So, this raises some questions; How does censorship affect the intelligence of the teenage brain? Does society need to censor books or can the parent censor books for their own child? What would happen if we allowed full censorship? These are all valid questions that need to be answered to distinguish if censorship is a good or bad. Many people may believe that censorship of books is good for the teenage developing brain, but it is not the case it actually has the opposite effect. The government should actually ban the banning of books.

Books are the best teachers you can ever have, so why take them away from the hands of the young teenagers that are looking for guidance. So, what are the effects of taking a book away? Well, first off it limits the brain to books that have no meaning, or powerful content. “Censorship is about the restriction and control of intellectual development” (Bailey, Boyd 11).
