The Importance Of Cursive Writing

Through the years, many people have stated that cursive should not be taught in schools. Reading historical documents, personalization, and brain function involves cursive. Cursive writing definitely has a place in our digital society.

Taught more than thirty decades ago, cursive writing has a famed and legendary past. It was once a vital element of American education but is now becoming an archaic artefact as technology advancement and the requirement of more regulated tests push it out of the education system. Cursive writing should be scrapped out of the education system for there is no need of wasting time and resources to continue teaching a skill that won’t be beneficial to the students in the near future.

Did you know cursive takes away core subjects like Math and Reading? Well, it does and that’s bad because that means you could make you less smart. In my opinion, cursive writing should not be taught today. First, it takes too much time. Second, it’s frustrating for parents. Lastly, you can gain a life skill because cursive might be easy for you when you grow up.

Have you ever wondered what your life would be like if you didn't have cursive, at ALL? Cursive should still be taught in school. Cursive can help you with your reading and writing skills. In fact, it can also help you read cursive. Mainly, if you can't write in cursive, you can't fill out documents and bills when you get older. I hope after you read my paper you will want to keep cursive too!

We need to keep teaching cursive in school. Cursive is far better than printing in various ways. When compared to regular printing, cursive outbeats it in every way. Classic handwriting is professional, efficient, and beneficial to the brain.

Whether or not there should be cursive writting in classrooms has become a controversial argument for everybody. I believe that there should be cursive writting in classrooms. It is very important that everybody learns cursive.

To say cursive writing is pointless and not needed in the classroom is a far stretch. In my opinion we still need to at least learn it but not over bear on its importance.

Handwriting in general is extremely important, even outside of a school setting. The Common Core standards in 2010 were enacted for public schools completely omitted a requirement for cursive. This leaves schools the choice of whether or not to teach it. As a result, most schools do not even require instruction on this particular writing style (Chin). Instead, schools are teaching keyboarding skills now more than ever because of our growing technological world. “Schools were told to ensure that all students could demonstrate sufficient amount of keyboarding skills by fourth grade.” All students should be taught to write because of how important it is. Cursive has been around for centuries, “The Egyptians invented one of the first, demotic, which allowed scribes to take notes on business transactions and Pharaonic laws faster than they could using hieroglyphics.” Since the beginning of writing, cursive has been essential and it will never not be (Trubek). Also, for almost everyone, writing on paper is something that is a cyclic process. It occurs every day, whether it’s a reminder, set of notes or even a message to someone. Although these things can be done electronically, typically it is easier to just jot down. The importance of handwriting is stressed every day, cursive writing especially.

Cursive writing is a twenty-first century dinosaur. I believe that cursive is an old additional tool for writing. More so with the new tech age growing faster by the day, here's why I believe that cursive is a sencesless tool for schools today.

The theory of the cursive being important in schools is that it does really matter by the research they did. Cursive could be important beacuse study's shows that, " Medical brain scans show that writting in cursive helps with fine motor-skill developmet". It also stimulates the right and left parts of the brain. Which means by writting in cursive makes the brain becomes stronger.

To begin with, there are many reasons that cursive writing is very important and good for us to know. A lot of people wonder why students learn how to write cursive in the age of IPhone, tablets, computers, etc. Cursive writing has been used for a very long time. Many of the hand writing done was in cursive for a very long time.

Do you know how to write in cursive? If you do, do you use it often? Schools no longer are required to teach this critical skill. States are instead given the choice. But cursive is a necessary skill. You are still required to write your signature in cursive. And what if you find your great-grandmother's diary? There is a good chance she wrote it in cursive. This is just one circumstance in which a person needs this skill. And then there’s the problem that students can’t read the Declaration of Independence. Cursive also helps reinforce learning for younger children.

Do we really like using cursive writing every day? We could print every word and not make our life as hard. Cursive can’t always be as useful as teachers make it seem. Cursive writing is an unneeded lesson, because it takes too much time, hurts the writer’s wrist, and causes bad legibility.

My own point of view of the controversial descion of cursive writing is some what both sided. Although there are many pros and few cons of cursive writing I still feel as though that cursive writing is esssential to whatever your higher educational needs may be. I also feel that it is unessecary to succeed your educational goals whatever they may be. In this breifly detailed essay I will be expalining why I feel as the above reflects.

When a student writes, the brain is able to feel excitement as it would to the individual texting his friend through social media. In fact, when kids learn to write in cursive it has been shown to increase people’s linguistic or speaking skills, how they think, along with helping their memory. Cursive handwriting gives the student to think better or put more effort into his work, rather than the student typing on his computer.
