Immigrants want to be treated equally as American citizens. The immigrants have done nothing wrong to harm our country, but yet, they are being sent back to their own country. Knowing that immigrants are getting caught by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), they feel scared and unsafe wherever they go. Deporting immigrants is completely wrong and it affects their personal lives because everything they have and need is here in America such as: family, friends, education, and jobs. They do not deserve to be treated like they are different from American citizens just because of their known title as “immigrants”.
When I heard the news about immigrants getting caught by ICE, I got scared immediately. I was worried for my parents. “Your dad and I will be okay, don’t worry about it too much.” My mom said these words to me right after we saw the news of an immigrant father getting caught by ICE in front of his thirteen-year-old daughter when he was dropping her off to school. His daughter was crying miserably and pleaded ICE to let her dad go. I was horrified because my mom took me to school every morning and I did not want the same situation to happen to her right in front of my eyes. I imagined ICE knocking in front of my house to take my parents away without giving me an explanation and the chance to say goodbye to them. They have no right to be taken away from doing nothing wrong. They never committed a crime of murder, shoplift, DUI, and many more. My mom wanted to
Immigrants are individuals who are trying to improve their life styles for their families within the economy, escape prosecution of gangs, and looking for more in their future. Everyone should have a chance to stay in the United States of America since we are all immigrants. We all travel from all different countries to make the U.S. what is today. Immigrants are not just people trying to take jobs like many say or criminals that the news makes it seem. Each individual has a story to tell. Some are just like you and me or children that are like our little brothers or sisters. Some are women and men like our mothers and fathers that give their life for the best of their
Outside the sirens are singing and someone’s parents are taken away from their family because they are not a citizen, they didn’t do anything wrong they just weren’t citizens in the country. Not every immigrant is the same, everyone is different and they all have different opinions. Immigrants are helping out their family like every other family would and they aren’t just the only people who do wrong choices so do others. Some American’s can’t accept them in their country and say immigrants are taking their jobs. Imagine having children born in the country with foreign parents and they have to be deported with their kids waiting to be adopted by “parents with better lives.” Immigrants are like everyone else, they risk themselves but they don’t
Since the start of our country, America has been known as a land of immigrants, a melting pot of different cultures and ethnicities working towards the American motto of the land of the free, home of the brave. Since colonial times, immigrants have been an integral part of society, majorly contributing to U.S culture and economy, yet many Americans have always had very conflicting ideas on immigration. Many people look past the benefits immigrants bring to our economy and society and instead scapegoat them for many of the United States’ problems surrounding unemployment and budget. The positive effects of immigrants, both legal and undocumented, in our country far outweighs the negative effects because of their important impact on society and the economic help that American relies on.
Being an immigrant in the United States is hard. People come here to work and bring their children, because there’s more opportunities here and the country is known for being a free land. But they are being sent back to a place where they don’t get the same things as they do here.Immigrants are also a big part of the U.S because most are in the fields, construction, landscaping, and all these jobs that are hard. Immigrants shouldn’t be deported because they are here to work hard, to help out their families and also live the American dream like any other.
A deportation of a family member can bring about many hardships for the entire family, but economically and emotionally. The topic of deportations is important given that “an estimated 4.5 million U.S. citizen children live in families in which one or both parents are undocumented” (Gulbas & Zayas, 2017). The voices of children should be researched further and heard when creating new immigration policies. I am interested in this topic given my own personal background. I grew up in a household where both my parents are undocumented as well as myself. Although I didn’t experience either parent being deported, I still recall consciously knowing that it can happen someday. This same fear of being separated by a loved one is experienced
There are millions of illegal immigrants in the United States, as Markon (2016) argues that the majority are from South and Central America, Europe, and Mexico. They form a population of between 10 million to 12 million undocumented immigrants in the United States. One of these illegal is my father, who came to the U.S.A in 1996 to work and tried to pay the numerous debts that he got in my country; in addition, my country had a large concern where there weren’t jobs and several banks had gone broke because of the change from Sucre to the dollar. At that time, my father thought the only solution was to come to get that money. My father, there are other undocumented immigrants that came from the same situation or for other reasons to this
Deporting illegal immigrants is not going to help the United states economy by any means, in fact, there would be no positive factors when it comes to impacting the economy. Some people may assume that illegal immigrants in the United States are not very well educated individuals, but that is not the case at all. Ryan Edwards, an author of the National Bureau of Economics Research, states, "they're highly trained, highly paid professionals, so their removal has a pretty large effect." (Ehrenfreund) Not only do they help the United States economy, but they play a huge role in it as well. The National Bureau did a study one year ago and they found, ”Immigrants living illegally in the United States account for roughly 18 percent of employment
According to Enforcemen, U.s. Immigration And Customs. ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Report (n.d.): n. pag. Web.removed about 69,478 non-criminal immigrants in 2015 alone. When deporting illegal immigrants, family separation and many more problems are almost unavoidable. Every day millions of immigrants have the fear of deportation, or, a “pail of fear” that hangs over them. Most Americans Overlook the devastating affects a deportation has on a child, family and community. “a total of 16.6 million people currently live in mixed-status families—with at least one unauthorized immigrant—and a third of U.S. citizen children of immigrants live in mixed-status families.” Growing up with the “pail of fear” often leaves a child afraid of the police, children often associate police with immigrant officials. confusion has lead many children and even adults afraid to report crimes because of their
Another solution to develop more knowledge, is by forming clubs and organizations about the different cultures that come to the United States and how it is influential for society. Also, there can be organizations who can support the community of immigrants in terms of providing jobs, and financial stability. By helping immigrants and educating the people about them, will develop a level of understanding of the overall problem of why it is not right to deport immigrants because of all the good they can do for society as a whole. Educating others can play an important role in terms of gaining back the reputation of immigrants, and the good they can do to better themselves, and others around them. Also, informing the public about law enforcement
As of 2010, almost 14 million immigrants made their way into the United States now more than 40 million are resided here in the U.S. It is a known fact that this took the highest amount of illegal immigrants in American history. Only three-fourths of the immigrants in our country are here legally. The population for immigrants increased 28 percent between 2000-2010. The amount of illegal immigrants continuously increases in size every year, becoming a major problem for the United States.
There are many illegal immigrants in the US. Illegal immigrants should be able to stay in the US and not get deported because they aren’t doing anything wrong and lose important things. Innocent immigrants living the same life as regular Americans lose important things needed to live for no reasons.
Immigrations has been a controversial topic for many years. An immigrant is a person from one country who moves to another country for a better life. Since 2003, more than 8 million to 12 million immigrants have come to the United States. Some Americans argue that immigrants should be exported back to their countries seeing that what they are doing is illegal, they don’t pay taxes, and that they are taking away jobs. However, some argue that immigrants are necessary as they take jobs Americans don’t wish to take. Deportation and immigration laws has always been around for example the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882. It was the first law restricting Chinese immigrants into the United States for 10 yrs. and later extended it for another ten
There are immigration laws that prevent immigrants from remaining in the U.S.. But there’s certain laws that make immigrants feel horrible. For example, the SB4 law that was passed in Texas earlier this year by Governor Greg Abbott, and it stated the removal of sanctuary cities. Police Officers could ask immigrants for their immigration status if they stopped them for a simple traffic light ticket or speed limit violation. It made every immigrant shake to their core. ICE deports immigrants and separates families every single day, and they do so with no remorse.
Imagine waking up every morning with the fear of being deported just because you wanted a better life for you and your family. Imagine being a good person and just because you aren’t fully an American, you’re not considered human. You fall under the category “alien.” Yet, immigrants go through this every single day. The fear of your family being torn apart. It isn't easy, I'm here to tell you what the life is like. They work all day to support their families because most of them didn’t go to school or finish because they came to the U.S. for better things, a better job. Most may have finished school but couldn’t continue school here because of money issues or they didn’t speak english. Whatever the case may be, it
Immigrants are people who live in a country that they weren’t born in. The term “illegal immigrants” is used for the people who cross the border without becoming a resident or citizen. Some Americans believe that their country is being taken over by illegal immigrants and that these immigrants don’t deserve to live here. Many immigrants are treated as less than human. Even though immigrants can take over many roles of citizens, immigrants should have more rights because they are discriminated against by US law and immigrants deserve the basic human rights.
