The focal point of this discussion is to create an organized method to bring evidence base practice (EBP) awareness to the forefront, increase knowledge to health care nursing in prevention and management as they are confronted daily with clinical problems, lack of up-to- date EBP research. Nurses will develop the skills for early detection by exploiting the four-stage framework model in their organization and validating the need for implementation of accessible current evidence base research to bring about optimal patient care and safety.
The plan is to establish multiple educational workshops for all nursing staff of various specialties, to include chief nurse officers, managers and risk management. This ensures uniformity of education to maximize optimal patient care in bridging the gap from the bedside to benchmark. The education department, alongside with organizational learning coordinators will have the task of constructing computer basic learning (CBL) modules with the input of experts from all specialties to obtain an interprofessional insight. Special budget is allocated as the organization recognizes the benefits of teaching and implementing evidence based practice which outweighs standardize outdated information, in view of up keeping the institution’s core measures. Upper management, nurse educators will attend a specialize training to become familiar with the tools and accessing material on their respective floor. They will schedule nurses in groups for a series of training, skill competencies and provide an incentive for attendance, may be earning CEU’s, recognition and/or opportunity of clinical ladder. The National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) collects nursing-unit level data on healthcare safety and quality measures. This database can be used as a tool to compare the institution’s performance with the national benchmark.
Establish a pilot study to promote translational science and evaluate its impact in clinical nursing in one department before implementing it within the hospital.
