A meaningful experience for my college career will be my participation in the St. Joe CEO program. Over the course of my high school, I have determined that I am interested in pursuing a business degree. As I was scheduling my senior year classes, I learned about the Saint Joe CEO program which provides an excellent opportunity. The Saint Joe CEO program is not your typical style class. During the first semester, the classes are held at a variety of local businesses, and corporate officials or business owners discuss the process of beginning and managing a business. During the second semester, the students collaborate in creating a business plan, acquiring the funding, starting the business, and finally marketing and selling your product or service.

As it relates to my chosen entrepreneur, Mark Cuban experiences the rise of new businesses on a regular basis. He is one of the main cast members on the show ‘Shark Tanks’, where a group of successful business leaders listen to new self-starters promote their ideas in hopes of a loan from one of the “sharks”. The show itself has helped inspire many American entrepreneurs to come up with new ideas.

In 2014, Hopkins founded iCoach360 along side her trusted partner James Miles. Once they established their business, Mr. Miles introduced Dianne Daniels to Ms. Hopson and they found that their synergy and opinions coincided in a way that would benefit the iCoach360. Therefore, they took the decision to work together shoulder to shoulder in order to help struggling entrepreneurs become successful and help their business meet their expectations of financial independence.

Walking into Warren Hall, I would feel that unflinching intensity and passion run through my body like an electric current. From exploring the entrepreneurial process and meeting innovative entrepreneurs from the Ithaca ReUse Center in Professor Perez’s Foundations of Entrepreneurship course to analyzing and developing practical financial and governance strategies in Professor Schmit’s Cooperative Business Management class, I was captivated by Dyson’s world-class education and accelerated approach toward fostering progressive leaders in the business world. Not only did these courses teach me important business tools and values, they also encouraged me to critique contemporary economic and social issues and advocate for a better world. Dyson’s applied curriculum, grounded in critical thinking and innovative learning, will provide me with the tools to strike the right equilibrium between responsible entrepreneurship and economic profit. Moreover, its people have had the highest average annual hours worked in the world every year for the last three years (OECD, 2017). Despite this, their unemployment rate is estimated to be 3.6% and their underemployment at 25% (CIA, 2017). I have always been interested in “doing my own thing” or, better known as, entrepreneurship. In high school, I would buy T-shirts, sweatshirts, and hats in bulk. I’d embroider little emblems on them and mark up the price by 100%. People at school would buy $1 shirts and pay $9 for my craftsmanship. However, I wanted bigger and better things. I channeled Andrew Carnegie in my approach to business: why just stop at my little venture when I could vertically integrate and market for myself? I decided to invest all my money in a new cause and thus, my own social media marketing company was born. The skills I’ve learned in starting my company is something that cannot be taught. I would relish the opportunity to grow and learn at an institution like The Stephen M. Ross School of Business that understands the importance of innovation and exploration.

Many heroes start in different planets or in popular places. But my hero starts in a little town in Texas. He is kind and loves to help people with things. His story starts when it was just an ordinary day at school. Andrew was his on his way to his reading class when he heard the new girl crying. He stops to ask her what was wrong, and she responded by saying “I’m going to fail the first test in a month.” Andrew said no you are not, meet me after school, and I will help you study for your test.

Taking this entrepreneur course has been the best thing I could do for myself. Not only did it grow my mindset, but it taught me how to focus and concentrate on meeting my goals. At the beginning of this semester I could not let go the negative self-image I had of myself. Since I have been able to reflect on who I am I am slowly able to let go of that past image. I now know that I am more than able to reach my goals with the proper mindset and skills. I have come a long way since the beginning of this course. The main objective of this semester was to learn various organizational behaviors that are conducted in a business environment outside the classroom; these would help us as students and as future business entrepreneurs. Throughout the semester, every week different professors came and gave us lectures. Each lecture was about different topic with professors of different departments. Along with the weekly lectures we also had an interactive session that gave us the opportunity to apply the lessons and techniques learnt in our professional and personal lives.

Our transformative innovation offers three bundled service area, the Coach Model, Dr. Tim Elmore’s Habitudes program, and the LifeGiving Mentors program that offer a different approach to career and leadership development. Integrating our coaching innovation will allow organizations to create a workforce that is able to collectively move forward and achieve unprecedented outcomes.
