I want to say, that I really enjoy reading your post you point out very important points, where immigration matter is a hot topic, and how our president have this controversial tactics, and way of thinking against immigration issues. We can see how his way of do things against the minorities communities such immigrants, he create this fearful tactics. This reflect how many of our Latinos, and Hispanic communities decide to left this country because of the fear that the government and our president put to through the media in order to prove that immigrant don’t deserve to be here. I would say I am against this tactics on putting fear to innocent people, which they deserved to be here, because many of those people help to our economy in many different ways. …show more content…
I did find very interesting in how you say that in Great Britain they create a government system where they provide a chance to immigrant to be in their country by proving them self that they are good people, and if they can improve and provide positive results to that
Globally, the United States has been known as "a nation of immigrants" almost from its inception. Beginning in the 1600s with English Puritans and continuing today, America is a melting pot of culture and ethnicity. In fact, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, immigration was the major source of U.S. population growth. Looking over our 200+ years we find that to clearly be true, with approximately 1 million immigrants coming to America during the 17th and 18th century. Almost 3 million arrived during the 1860s, and another 3 million in the 1870s. In the next four decades, the number of immigrants rose to over 25 million people, most from various European nations, most arriving in New York or one of the Eastern seaports (Damon, 1981). Despite the politicization, as of 2006, the United States actually was the number one country globally to accept legal immigrants into the country, with a current immigrant population of almost 40 million (Terrazas and Batalova, 2009). In fact, the peak of immigration was 1907, when over 1.2 million Europeans entered the country beginning a push towards legislation limiting immigration in the Immigration and Naturalization Act of 1924 and the 1921 Congressional Quota Act. These immigrants came for two sociological reasons: the push factor (wars, famine, persecution and overpopulation) and the pull factors (jobs and the promise of freedom). Most came by ship, and a passage often cost the equivalent of an entire life's savings causing many
Immigration is both a domestic issue and global concern. It involves economics, politics, and culture. Unlike other current issues, it has been at the center of the American experience for hundreds of years (Tirman, John). Every year, hundreds of thousands of immigrants from around the world, come to the United States. These immigrants have many different motivations as to why they leave their home country; but as currents events indicate, it is injustice, poverty, and violence in their own country that generally make people move to save themselves and to ensure a better future for their families. Many of these people believe the United States is the best place to go, because there is more freedom, protection, and benefits,
Although the issue of immigration policy has been at the center of political debates, largely discussed in the media and newspapers, no one has yet found a solution to this ill-defined problem, that would comply with the America’s core values. While I think the immigration policy does need a reform, the solution to this problem certainly is not a deportation of all undocumented residents.
Republicans and Democrats have been fighting over the issue of immigration since the 1900s. Immigration has been an issue declared by both Democrats and Republicans alike over debates, elections and even the presidency. Each political party has different viewpoints of immigration and how it effects society and the U.S. as a whole. Immigration is the great division between two opinions. These two sides are: one being people that are accepting with immigrants coming in and out of the U.S., while the others say there shouldn’t be any immigrants coming to the U.S. Both parties have different stances on these issues, however, neither are as reliable as the facts.
Mitt Romney in his speech to the RNC just four years ago would be considered near traitorous to the republican party in the divisive politics of the present. In this presidential campaign season, as in many previous ones, one of the largest issues continues to be that of immigration. The fundamental disagreement is not whether an issue exists, but as to how the United States should react to the ones waking up at night hearing that voice telling them to come to America. This paper will examine the roles of federal, state, and local governments have regarding the question: should state and local governments have the authority to draft and execute immigration policies? First, it will delve deeper into this topic by studying the history of immigration
On the topic of immigration, Donald Trump has stated, "But you have people coming in and I 'm not just saying Mexicans, I 'm talking about people that are from all over that are killers and rapists and they 're coming into this country." On the same issue, Hillary Clinton has said the following: “I’ve talked about undocumented immigrants hundreds of times and fought for years for comprehensive immigration reform… We are a country built by immigrants and our diversity makes us stronger as a nation — it’s something to be proud of, celebrate, and defend.” As shown through the radically different perspectives highlighted in the aforementioned passages, the topic of immigration policy has quickly become the most prominent discussion of the upcoming election. How then do we evaluate the immigration policies proposed by the likely Presidential nominees, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, given our country’s founding principles? The answer to this question lies in the Declaration of Independence and Constitution. Our nation’s legal documents should be used to evaluate their immigration views because they are the basis of our country and the values America embodies. Given America’s founding principles of equality, freedom and equal protection under the law as stated in our country’s Declaration of Independence and Constitution, extreme protectionist immigration laws contradict our nation’s founding principles. In comparison to Donald Trump’s overt and impractical anti-immigrant
Immigration is a crucial topic for the 2016 Presidential race. It has been an of the issue for many Presidential races in the past. The two candidates I will be discussing and their policy views on immigration are the two that I will believe will be their party’s nominee, Donald J Trump with the Republican Party and Hilary R Clinton with the Democratic Party. Illegal immigration gets underreported and often swept under the rug. D.U.I. deaths and other incarceration statistics caused by illegal immigration in this paper are not reports you will not likely find in the main stream media.
Since our country’s founding, the topic of immigration has been deliberated amongst many scholars. The question of who has the right to come to the United States and what they are entitled to after their arrival has been an ongoing discussion amongst various academic disciplines. More so recently, since the vast majority of the immigrant population has become concerned with their rights to higher education. For this reason, the discussion on immigration has become a hot topic amongst the American population and therefore, the field of inquiry of many academic disciplines like: Education and Psychology. For example, Research Associate and Director of Education Programs at Hunter College, Luis O. Reyes addresses the concerns that the
One of the biggest debates among the American people as well as political leaders is the topic of Immigration. The question at hand is about whether immigrants coming to America for a better life truly helps or hurts the United States economy. The other question at stake is whether or not immigrants are taking jobs away from natives and creating a job shortage. Should immigration in the United States be controlled and if so what should be done to help illegal immigrants? Jeanne Batalova writes in her article “Immigration Reform in the United States: Raising Key Questions” that “the current number of immigrants, 38 million, is at a historical high. According
“The more you can increase fear of drugs and crime, welfare mothers, immigrants and aliens, the more you control all the people” (Noam Chomsky). This quote correlates to current American society because many people believe that immigrants are the cause of increase in crime, and economic disadvantages. For that reason, Immigration has become hotly contested issue in policy making over the past few years. The government attempts to create laws to strengthen the United States border with the intention of curbing illegal immigration. This paper looks at the impact on American society immigrants have, and focuses on recent immigration policies and their consequences to show that the intergovernmental bureaucracy fails in achieving the goals of
Immigration has been an issue within the U.S. from the colonial days. Immigration is a hot topic in the U.S., which is gaining more focused attention due to the upcoming 2016 Presidential election. There are always two sides to an issue and immigration is no different. The Democrats and Republicans have different views on how to reform the immigration policies.
Throughout the history of United States of America, the immigration issue has grown into important part of our lives. Many influential people and politicians have tried to improve and control the immigration, by giving foreigners all over the world a chance to explore “The American Dream.” Therefore, during the presidential race, immigration has always become a hot topic as presidential candidates debated about how to handle the massive immigrations growing in the United States. For that reason, when each presidential candidate has their own solutions and views in immigrations, the way they express and talk using a particular word puts them in a position where they will be judged based on their words by Americans and people around the
In the United States, we live in a country filled with immigrants. That’s what makes the country itself. Millions of people from all around the world come to the United States hoping to get a better chance at life, or escaping persecution and civil wars in their home country. There are many turns to living here in the U.S., such as when families cannot earn enough money to support themselves and their children. ⅓ of all the children in the United States in poverty are children of immigrants. Immigration is an important political issue in our society. Many politicians are voicing their opinions in speeches and campaigns, with their own view on this topic and what to do about immigrants. Here are a few examples of what is important
The Federal government have many resources to help a business stay open , so it can help the U.S. economy. There are many ways the U.S. government can help business from reducing taxes or reducing barriers. One thing I find that the government can do to help business and the economy is immigration reform for immigrants that are trying to open up businesses so they can provide for their family. Based on the White House website, it shows that immigrants are 30% more likely to start a business in the U.S. that non-native immigrants and 18% of all small business owners in the U.S. are immigrants. And these same small businesses are providing employment to the population which helps reduce the employment rate and also benefits the economy. According
Us government should take some measures to tackle the immigration. First, they have to develop their economy system such as the salary should be high in the all terms of the jobs. Second, they have to increase the environment skills in the country, finally, they have to focus in the need of people because this is the good way to know what do people want to get it in the
