In book II of Republic we are not introduced to Glaucon. He is more concerned as supposed to Thrymachucus with the importance of justice. He supports Thraymachus reasoning that nobody wants to be just by illustrating the story “Ring of Glazes”(line 359d -360b). A story about, a shepherd who was working for a king, found a ring and realizes this object makes him invisible. While he was invisible he committed the desires of men that is to kill the king and sleep with his wife. Thus, concluding one can become unjust when they are not caught. In the play The Crucible, the author Arthur Miller displays an unfair treatment of humans when it comes to justice. Characters who live in Salem, Massachusetts, receive improper punishments for their sins of witchcraft and are being accused of crimes they did not commit. In book II of The Republic of Plato Glaucon says that he will "restore Thrasymachus' argument" (line 358c) that proves injustice is better than justice. He first talks about how justice came about. Then makes a second point that people practice justice without their own will and he ends with his third point that the unjust man's life is better then the just man's life. Glaucon backs up all of his points with examples of injustices and being just.
Within the justice system lays complex connotations that are either ignored or spun in a way that interprets different meanings. What is even more complex is how to guarantee justice in a society, more specifically the Chippewa society, where the legal system contains cracks that make it hard to bring justice for Native Americans. In The Round House, Erdrich explores this concept of bureaucratic intricacy that divides the United States jurisdiction and the Native American tribal lands. After Joe’s mother, Geraldine, is raped, he learns how the law not only doesn’t protect her, but also how there is no justice being served. Therefore, Joe decides to take law into his own hands and give his mother the justice she deserves. He does so by turning to the old Chippewa traditional system called the wiindigoo justice system. Joe struggles throughout the book with the law and how the justice system works. There is also an internal struggle that he doesn’t realize yet, with the image of Native American women on the reservation and how men, throughout the story, treat them. While jurisdiction plays a big part in how Native Americans receive their justice, it also boils down to how the crimes being committed against Native American women decide the fate of many characters.
In American society, justice is blind. Justice is commonly defined as a rightful or lawful act. Or in other terms to bring to justice, to come before a court for trial or to receive punishment for one’s misdeeds. Some believe it is fairly administered and equal. But lack within the criminal justice system make us question equality. There are two individual aspects of how justice can be served; the perspective of the victim and the perspective of the criminal "per say". I will be focusing on instances in which wrongfully people were punished for crimes they didn 't commit and families or victims thought justice was served. The first case in which justice was wrongfully served is the case of Louis Taylor. Louis Taylor did forty-one years to life for something he didn 't do. Secondly, Steven Avery served eighteen years for being wrongfully convicted for rape. Although in Avery 's case he was exonerated through DNA testing.

Therefore, Thrasymachus’ viewpoint in Book I of the Republic is that one’s life can be better if he is unjust because he will have the ability to take advantage of the just man. In fact, he states “that injustice, when practiced on a large enough scale, is stronger and freer and more successful than justice” (344 c) and is “good policy” (348 d).

In order Justice to be pure and absolute, there should be no other purposes or motives attached to its virtuous state. So, when Glaucon’s candid argument is conceptualized, it belittles the principle and the role of Justice, for the attack has some conceivable qualities of truth in human beings. It is true that our actions have some kind of consequences either good or bad, depending of the action. Glaucon hence suggests that justice holds no value itself; for example, one does not merely take medicines for the sake of taking it, rather it is taken for the outcome of it, which is healing.
