A great option is to make a batch of lavender simple syrup and start experimenting. The best thing about lavender simple syrup is you can use it to make a lavender lemonade and lavender soda. However, you first need to make a batch of syrup. This is really easy to do and requires the use of a bot plate or your stove. “Molasses, from the Latin word melaceres, meaning honey-like, is a thick dark syrup that is a byproduct of sugar refining. This results when sugar is crystallized out of sugar cane or sugar beet juice.” (Molasses) Before doing thorough research, I never knew the history of syrup, in fact, I had never actually thought about syrup quite often either, considering that I am not an extremely tremendous fan of syrup. However, I believe that I am further educated on the subject after my recent research
This process can take some time. According to Alaina Dewing, you have to boil most of the water out of the sap which leaves behind the sugar we call syrup. Syrup is made at an average of 219 degrees Fahrenheit (depending on the location’s altitude). She said it takes about forty gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup; this shows how much water is boiled off of the sap to create the rich syrup. Alaina also mentioned a few other maple products you can make by boiling off more of the water from the syrup such as maple cream (which is made at about 233 degrees Fahrenheit), maple candy (made at about 255 degrees Fahrenheit), and maple sugar (made at about 275 degrees Fahrenheit). Alaina also explained that anyone can make maple syrup. All you need to have to accomplish this is a maple tree, a drill, a sap spile, a bucket, and somewhere to boil your sap (i.e. a kitchen
The Lavender Scare first started in 1953 during Eisenhower’s presidency when the Red Scare was being put into action by Senator McCarthy. During this time McCarthy accused the LGBT community that worked in government positions of being more of threat to the American government than possible communist spies. Senator McCarthy said that gay males and lesbians could be easily blackmailed and would give away government secrets to protect themselves from their sexuality being exposed. After McCarthy’s accusations president Eisenhower signed Executive Order 10450 which made it “official government policy that gay and lesbian employees were to be hunted down and fired” (9 Things To Know About The Lavender Scare 1).
3.) Combine the ground cloves with 50ml of water in the boiling flask then; steam distill the mixture to obtain the clove oil. Continue the distillation until a drop or two of the emerging distillate, collected on a watch glass, is odorless and water-clear; with no oily droplets. 150ml might need to be distilled before it becomes clear. Vent the steam line or raise the steam inlet tube above the liquid level in the boiling flask before you turn off the steam. Took about 20-30 minutes for emerging distillate to drop on watchglass and first few drops seemed clear. But we went ahead and placed a flask and started collected liquid because the process of distilling 150ml of fluid was taking quite some time. A sufficient amount of fluid was collected and checked by Professor.
Code lavender is a great incorporation of caring on an organizational level, often nurses spend so much time giving patients the best, well-rounded care that they forget about themselves. At the end of the day, self-care and a culture of teamwork and caring is equally as important as patient care. It has been noted by several nurses that self-care is not and should be incorporated into nursing school curriculum to improve patient care and decrease the incidence of burnout. The addition of self-care and intraprofessional caring into the curriculum would be highly beneficial from an organizational standpoint because it would increase awareness of caring from a nursing perspective in addition to a patient one. Thank you for drawing attention
Shake the bottle for the oils to mix evenly. Put the tightly closed bottle in a dark bottle in a cupboard for a day where the temperature is not more that 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
Cream soda and butterscotch syrup are both Isobutyric Acids (which also include rum, liquor, butter and vanilla). These mixed remain as an isobutyric acid, so there is no chemical reaction other than 2 ingredients being mixed. Vanilla is also an Isobutyric acid which makes no reaction when combined, however sugar is a disaccharide which is a base. If you combine sugars and bases neutralization happens. An acid has a PH below 7 and a base (alkaline) has a PH above 7. The recipe also includes creams which are lactose all of which are bases. These alkalines include cream and melted butter. There are three and three in this equation making it a neutralization throughout the recipe.
The process to make an elderberry tincture is not difficult to do at home. A tincture is made by using an infusion process with an alcohol or an non-alcoholic liquid. Infusions typically take about six weeks or more before the tincture will be ready to use.
For the preparation of the syrup, the dry ingredients were homogenized and added to 100 mL in a volumetric flask. With the aid of an industrial blender, the melted fat (60 ºC) and the water at room temperature were homogenized for five minutes; then the dry ingredients were added, which were stirred for five minutes, the glucose syrup and the emulsifier being added. It was homogenized again for five minutes, thus obtaining the ice cream syrup. The syrup was subjected to pasteurization at 75 ºC for fifteen minutes with subsequent cooling at 4 ºC. During maturation, the syrup was kept at 4 ºC for twenty four
Essential Oils have been used for centuries for holistic healing to promote well being, spirituality and health. The three common ways to use oils are, ingesting, applying to skin and diffusing. When ingesting or applying oils to the skin you should dilute the oils first with a carrier oil. Some of these carrier oils are coconut oil, almond oil, argan oil, and jojoba oil. After you have diluted the oil you can then ingest and apply to the skin. There are many different benefits to using essential oils such as skin care, hair care, sickness, sleep issues, and stress issues. There are over ninety different oils and they each have different issues that they treat. When using oils you have to understand that it takes time to find the right
On a message board the other day I read about someone having made Wild Violet Jelly with violets that were growing in their front yard. I’ve wanted to try canning and making my own preserves for some time now, and the idea of using something I had growing wild intrigued me. I’m always weary of trying a new recipe if it is going to cost me a small fortune, just in case things don’t turn out well, so this seemed like a great one to test because it didn’t have a lot of expensive ingredients. It happened to be pouring down rain the day that I decided to make it, so I only managed to gather 2 packed cups of flowers instead of the four that the recipe I initially saw called for. It took me a few minutes to find a recipe that made a smaller batch and required fewer flowers. I found THIS recipe from Prairieland Herbs that sounded like it would work out nicely.
Each day I changed the recipe until I found that one worked, and that if the day was warmer then the day before I added more ice to the lemonade.
The fresh & dried flowers of the lavender herb have long been utilized in homeopathy for depression both in medicines and in aromatherapy. The aroma of lavender can have an extremely soothing effect. The flavoured, concentrate is transferred to a 12,000 litre storage tank, containing a chilled syrup solution. The tank is chilled to around 2°C.
First off, wash the lemons clean so there won't be any dirt or bacteria on the lemon. Use the knife and cut the lemon in half so the juice can be easily squeezed out of. If you desire more juice from the lemon, it is a good way to put the lemon in the microwave first for around 10 to 15 seconds. After cutting the lemon and squeezing about 2 cups of juice into the cup or pot, add around 6 cups of water. After adding water to the cup, add 1 and a half-cup of sugar to the juice and water. The most important thing to remember is that the ratio of juice, sugar and water makes lemonade great -- not too sweet, not too tart. I like 6 cups of water to 2 cups juice and 2 cups sugar. Adjust it to suit yourself. Also, don't forget how great hot lemonade tastes in the winter when you have a sore throat. You can freeze the lemon/sugar syrup for later use.
