Maybe my first and last name had revealed to everyone that I am not from America; I am from Saigon, Vietnam. About four years ago, my parents and I migrated to the United States. There are a couple of reasons why we decided to leave our mother country, but the main reason was because of the academic opportunities, such as honor classes and College Credit Plus classes, American offered to students. With these phenomenal chances, I can achieve my long life goal: become a knowledgeable doctor that could helps those in need of medical treatments. In order to become the knowledgeable I dreamed to become, besides the academics opportunities, I chose biochemistry and psychology along with the pre-medical program as my majors in college. Immigrating to America, no matter where you are coming from, has its fair share of trials and tribulations. Immigrants have to go through weeks of traveling to finally get to America and then completely rebuild their lives in this new country. While most immigrants went through similar experiences when migrating to America, , such as, traveling by sea, fighting illness, and enduring medical checkups upon arrival in Ellis Island, their ultimate reasons for leaving their home country varied, by economics, politics, or warfare.
During the Great War, industrial cities in the North and Midwest profited greatly. However due to white men enlisting in World War I and the United States government halt on immigration from Europe, these industrial cities experienced severe labor shortages. To fulfill these job shortages, northern manufacturers recruited throughout the South causing what is known as The Great Migration, where at least 500,000 African-Americans moved from the South to Northern and Midwestern cities.
The amount of anger I have right now from reading this comment is terrifying. Migrating to America for many people is a way to start fresh, it's a way for them to give a life to their kids that they couldn't have, it's a way for people to uncover talents that they feared to discover back home. For many people America provided peaceful sleep, something many couldn't have back at home because of the amount of stress they had carried on their shoulders. America is truly a paradise for many people including me and my family, America provided us with a clear mind set, a peaceful environment and a better future for my brother and me. It's very sad to see how American see the world. They totally ignore reality because reality for them is getting drunk
Jose advices people who are thinking to immigrate in the United States that they should because of the opportunities, but to work hard and accomplish the goal they are coming for. For example if they come because of poverty then they need to make sure they accomplish something that will help their family back home. Because, why will you leave your family to immigrate to a new country and in the end do not do anything to make a change or impact in your family.
I come from the small island of Cuba; I was born and raised there as did my parents and my grandparents. When I was ten and we moved to the United States I didn’t think much of it, in my mind I was still Cuban and living in another country would not change my childhood thoughts. While growing up in the U.S. it seemed that whenever an immigrant issue came about all immigrants from all parts of the world had to stand behind it no matter what it was no matter if beneficial or troublesome. I used to think that these actions were justified because all immigrants had to stand up for each other otherwise nobody would.
No one enjoys leaving their home, but when calamities occur there is sometimes no choice. Due to political and natural disasters, such as the earthquake in 2010, the number of Haitian immigrants in the United States has increased to 700,000 in the last 30 years. Many of these immigrants were encouraged to come to America for safe keeping until the year of 2018. Most of these Haitians have plans to stay in the country illegally. Very few of these immigrants have understanding towards the American life. To help them become legal, the United States can create an adaption program to aid immigrants in acquiring abilities to speak English, maintain economic stability, and provide workers for the United States.
If your next-door neighbors were sitting in the rain and hungry would you put a roof over their head and feed them before your own family and children? Then why is the U.S. doing it for legal and illegal immigrants? Until every U.S citizen has a roof over their head and food in their stomach immigration should be limited. There are too many of our resources going to immigrants that should be used for U.S. citizens first, like housing, medical, food and many others. Over the past decade immigration into the U.S. has been on the constant rise making it harder for American’s to get the help and resources that they need and deserve. Immigrants are willing to work for less and under the table making it harder for American’s to find jobs, the use
What I know about Paleolithic people and what I think would have influenced them to migrate to the Americas is that there food migrated so the Paleolithic people had to follow their food ,found a spot to settle until their food needed to migrated again.through thousand of the years Paleo people evolved in to humo sapiane sapianes (which is us).
Connor Driscoll was seventeen year old man that lives in London, United Kingdom with his two parents, Kelly and Ryan Driscoll. Kelly was sixty-five years old and Ryan is sixty seven years old. Connor and his family were very poor, so poor that they were lucky if they had enough money by the end of the day to have something to eat. Connor and his family lived in a small alleyway in London. Each of them has a job. Kelly and Connor both worked at a factory; meanwhile Ryan worked as a railroad lyre. Whenever their family was done with what they were working on or when work was over they would go home back in their dark alleyway. They would all sit together and just dream of being rich and living in a house, or
America has many bold symbols, like the bald eagle, a symbol of Courage, the American flag a symbol of the beginning and present of America. However, one of the most popular symbols in the United States is, the great lady herself, the Statue of Liberty. With her arms stretched wide she proclaims to the world, “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.”
Many white immigrants such as Irish, Germans, Italians and the Scottish, just to name a few, have become part of the “white race”. Originally, these distinct ethnic groups all had their own identity, in a sense. All of these groups, just like other “inferior races”, faced oppression and challenges that made them comparable to the black Americans or any other people of color. However, when these groups began to migrate to the United States, they had an opportunity to become part of the “superior race” to become that which had oppressed them and instead of being oppressed they could be the oppressors. When these European decedents began to immigrate to the United States, they were faced with a significant proposition: a low economic status in
One of the hottest topics of the past number of years is the topic of immigration. The number of times that immigration policies and effects has been brought up in both political and personal conversation is astronomical. The topic, as beat to death as it is, must be understood in a more comprehensive way. People must understand the forces driving people to migrate. Overall, there are many roots that lead to migration into the United States, many of which are valid and the processes of these migrations can and should be improved.
“I believe that the great majority of people coming here illegally have no other option. They want to provide for their families.” Illegal immigrants come to the United States every day wanting to escape poverty, cartel violence, and government corruption in order to provide for their families (Planas, 2015). Governor Bush wants to create pathways to citizenship for illegal immigrants and inflict on those who have a legal visa who prolong their stay. His immigration plan has six proposals to enhance border security and enforces immigration law. Immigration in the United States is a strong issue, especially when it gets brought up to potential presidency candidates. In regards to Republican voters this is a touchy subject and with Americans
There are many reasons as to why people from other countries decide to make a journey to America. Some immigrants flee to the united states in an attempt to escape persecution, find economic prosperity, and to seek a new life that is filled with opportunities that would have been virtually impossible in their homeland. Others are escaping oppressive regimes or natural disasters that have ravaged their country. America’s reputation for being the “land of opportunity” filled with endless land just waiting to be claimed, plentiful jobs, and tolerance for all peoples has made the country a beacon for the “huddled masses”. Throughout America’s history immigrants have poured in from nations all over the world, but the most memorable waves of
We all end up everywhere for a reason, my family not so much. My mother is the one that is holder of my family's history, she came here after my grandma did. My grandmother took all her children except my mother. My grandma was jealous of my mom because her dad liked her and my grandma grew hate and hated my mom so she left her. When my mother grew up she left Puerto Rico. She got her papers together and went to school and then decided it was time to come to America. My grandma helped her settle and so did her other family. She met my dad because of my grandma and they had each other only so they fell in love and made a family. My mom is not alive right now but I asked her how immigrating to America was. She loved every moment she said. My father took her
