Last but not least, if all doesn’t work out as planned I will enter the United States Navy which is the naval warfare service branch of the United States Armed Forces and one of the seven uniformed services of the United States. Navy has become what is thought to be the most important and powerful branch of the military. I chose this branch because you get to serve the country without going into head-to-head combat, travel to different countries to see the world, physically less demanding, life experiences, but most importantly why is I have family who serve in the Navy so it’s a tradition. I would like to be located in Florida California but wherever I get stationed off too I will have to be okay with it. Being in the Navy my duties and requirements
Serving the United States Military comes with many responsibilities as well as pressure and accountability. However, the military isn’t for everyone, but it offers so much for those who serve. One thing that must be known and dealt with is that this career could be a life threatening one, and there are many obstacles one must go through beforehand.
Alexander Hamilton had immigrated to America and made a bigger influence than most natural born founding fathers. Hamilton joined the patriot army at a young age, and was quickly noticed by George Washington as a natural leader. Eventually, Washington chose Hamilton for his cabinet as the first United States Secretary of the Treasury. As Secretary of the Treasury, he devised a five part plan to replenish the economy and remove debt from Britain. By being Washington’s right hand man, Hamilton influenced America’s government and economy into methods that are still used in present day government. Through his documents, such as The Federalist Papers, Hamilton portrayed his passion for a unified country. His writings led to the ratification of the Constitution. Coming from his federalist perspective, Hamilton agreed that a centralized government with a national bank and notions for a manufacturing powerhouse would be beneficial for the country. He also saw that America should be mercantile, or very involved with world trade, especially with Britain. Unlike his counterpart, Thomas Jefferson, who believed otherwise. This caused altercations between the two. Along with his strong affirmations and opinions, Hamilton’s role in the early republic played a big part in colonial history.
There are a lot of graduates fresh out of high schools that make the decision to use the military. There are some people that join the military because that is a fast and easy choice for them. The military gives everyone a wide variety of options. College for instance, the military allows you to serve your country and still have time to attend college and get a degree if you choose to do that. People that choose to join the military get the option to go to college anytime they feel during their military career. The military pays for part or all the tuition. The military has four different branches, Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marines. Each branch offers different trades. Air Force for example, teaches people to fly, have mechanical skills,
The idea that members of a community have the duty to defend it, is as old as civilization itself (Ruschmann 10). The United States has an extensive history, starting with the original thirteen States of involuntary conscription in time of conflict. Citizen’s service is a standard principle of American military service, which places the obligation of service upon citizens to serve and to ensure that the state require those citizens to serve (Dalehite and Birskyte 1). With this obligation, young people will be imbued with a sense of “duty” and being part of the collective effort in which everyone will have and do their part for the benefit of the nation. Thereby, military service in the
Throughout human history, war has permeated the lives of billions of people. From early conflicts such as conquests to control vast swaths of land by Alexander the Great and Cyrus the Great to modern, global wars such as the World Wars, the concept of war has been at the forefront of humanity’s mind for centuries. However, in recent years, opposition to war and lack of participation in the military has become a common theme in many countries, including the United States. To help alleviate the troubles caused by lack of participation, the United States instituted a law allowing for the conscription of its citizens. Conscription, which can also be referred to as a draft, is defined as the compulsory drafting of citizens into military service (What). The Draft has been utilized throughout US History in a couple of prominent wars; however, opposition has manifested against the Vietnam War and the draft, rightfully stemming from ethical opposition to the war and hatred for what the war and the draft stood for.
The United States army known as the Military is a great gift to the people in America. The Military is an army in which fights for our country voluntarily. Also theirs many reasons I believe the Military is a gift to our generation such as soliders protect us, sacrifice there life so others don't have to, and volunteer freely. I will forever be grateful for the military.
Conscription perception changes more than once and it have many different reasons for it to change. I have been able to focus my research on how writers feel about conscription depending on different aspects. I have and will focus on different aspects of military conscription. The first section of the paper will consist of the writer’s perspectives on conscription during major military events. Starting from the First World War in the early 1900s and stop at present day today and what impact conscription has on the world today. The main perspectives I will be using will be the writing samples of writers writing about the wars
In some countries, most people have to serve a mandatory two years in the military. Should we have a similar policy here in the United States? I say that we do not have that policy here because some people may not want to, not all of them will learn at the same pace, and there will be a lot deaths. Even though you might get drafted to the military in time of war, they should not make you do it. Some countries that make you serve more than 16 mandatory months are Armenia, Angola, Central African Republic, and Chad.
John Gregory Dunne said, “Evading military service has a long history in American life.” Even though forced military service would strengthen the military, the federal service bill must be blocked because the law violates the free will of people, and it is very expensive.
These two paragraphs are both talking about two different perspectives on national service. One of these is saying that volunteering should be required for people from ages 18-30 and atleast one year of service should be done. The other one states that we should have the choice to do voluneer work or not.
After basic training the first place everybody goes to is where they’re stationed. There are bases on the east coast and west coast. It’s a possibility that someone could be stationed at another country. The most exciting opportunity is when everyone on the ship goes to ports around the world. More than one-hundred ports are located in places like Italy, Germany, Ireland, and Vietnam. There is a chance that someone could be in any other country and each country has their own different way of life that you could experience. The majority of the time in the Navy everyone will be deployed on a ship in the middle of the sea doing their job. Except the Special Force Teams, they almost always require
The term ‘military necessity’ has often been used throughout history to describe scenarios where a country needed justification for their actions, or a loophole allowing them to act. In Italy during World War II, Hitler ordered the invasion of a Benedictine abbey, Montecassino, in order to gain access to Rome. During the fight against the Axis powers, the Allied powers attempted to prevent damage to Montecassino during the fight, unless it interfered with what they deemed a military necessity (Hayashi, “Contextualizing Military Necessity”). “Military necessity’ in regards to the dropping of atomic bombs over Hiroshima and Nagasaki was justified, as opposed to Montecassino. This is because military necessity dictates that in the event of extreme circumstances security concerns supersede possible ethical considerations (Hassner, “Military Necessity”). In Italy, the term’s use was subjective, but in Japan, the United States had to utilize it. Avoiding lives that would have been lost in the invasion of Japanese home islands, Japan’s Mobilization Law of 1938 and total warfare, and rising tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union all contributed to the dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki being a military necessity.
Most people have, at one point or another, considered what they were going to do with their lives. Whether a person would like to become an activist, an artisan or a business professional, the military has something for everyone. Finding a path in life is often filled with uncertainty and procrastination. The United States military is a path in itself, should one wish to retire from it; however, should a person wish to make their own path, there are benefits for that as well that can remove all doubt and curb procrastination. Due to these many benefits, I believe that it should be mandatory for all adults to enlist for a minimum of twenty-four months.
One of the most successful tools that the United States’ federal government offers is the armed forces. During 1973, the Selective Service publicized that the draft was finally over, giving American citizens a choice if they wanted to join the armed forces. After this announcement was made, the military decreased in size with millions of people not taking advantage of the benefits that the federal government offered. The military presents a plethora of opportunities for people during their active service, and afterwards in the civilian world. Mandatory military service will open doors for many Americans and present opportunities for poverty stricken families. Americans must take advantage of military service, allowing them to benefit from the opportunities it offers, developing a sense of patriotism for all citizens.
Unlike reputable and concurrent philosophers like Nel Noddings, Martha Nussbaum, Elliot Turiel etc., Gulen’s philosophy initially was not evaluated nor acknowledged by contemporary philosophers and academic institutions, instead his ideas was accepted by local people and put into action immediately by his followers. While the world has no shortage of educational models or theories, distinguished feature of the educational philosophy of Gulen is the fact that it has not remained in speeches or books only (Hunt & Aydogan 2007). The Number of followers and institutions steadily has outgrown its originating country,Turkey and spread around the world.unification can struggle against these. As ignorance is the most serious problem, it must be opposed with education, which always has been the most important way of serving our country.
