Although the northern and southern parts of the state may share similar geographical landscapes and county lines. What’s the deal between New York and South Florida-in so many ways they are alike, however in so many ways, they are very different. South Florida is often referred to as “Little New York”. A Land Remembered is a great novel written by Patrick Smith that enhances the reader's knowledge about sustainability. The novel portrays the events of family of three generations and each of their interactions with the environment and the changes over time. It also exposes us to the concept that adaptations is important when dealing with changes over time.

Another great memory I had was when I went to Myrtle Beach with my mom, grandma, and older brother Vincent. I was 9 years old when my mom came to with a question she had. She made it sound really serious, I thought something horrible happened. When she finally got to the question it turned out to be amazing! She asked me if I wanted and was okay with moving to Florida. Of course me being 9 thought it was such exciting news. The first hurricane I experienced was in the first two months of me living in Florida. I moved here from New York and I had no idea what to expect when I heard that a hurricane was coming. It was like nothing I had experienced before, seeing a tree pulled from the ground by only water and wind was a devastating experience that I was something I did not expect to see. After the hurricane, my dad went to the store and bought as much; canned food, water bottles, candles, flashlights and batteries he could find to make sure that just in case another hurricane hit we would be prepared. It was hard as a teenager being forced out of are home. We were forced out our home because Anderson signed the Removal Act on May 28 in 1830. We started our move to Kansas on October 8 1840. We had to walk 800 to 1200 miles all the way to a place we didn't know. We only had so much food when it was gone we had to hunt for food or starve. Many many kids, parents, and grandparents died of starvation or freezing.
