“Perseverance is failing 19 times then succeeding the 20th time” Julie Andrews. This means that you are going to hit many bumps in the road but there is always times where you can push through and make the most of their life. As defined by perseverance is a “steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state, etc., especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement.” The synonyms are “Dedication” , “ Determination” , and “Diligence”. The antonyms for this word are “Apathy”, “Cowardice” , and “Weakness” . This is important because people need to persevere to get through life’s tough challenges and make the most of it even when times are tough. In the real world this looks like people trying to get through the day even though money is tight. This doesn’t not look like people just sitting around not doing anything to try to help themselves if they don’t have job. The first example where perseverance is shown is that when in the book Glory Road Coach Don Haskins was scrimmaging at college and he is left in all day with no breaks. Later when he got home he took off his sock and the skin on the ball of his foot fell off because he ran so much. The next day he goes to the athletic trainer's room and tapes the skin back on his feet. The second example where perseverance is shown is when the Japanese-Americans were persecuted during WWII based on their nationality and people lost their jobs, businesses, and were left with nothing and were
