Preterm birth is babies who are born closer to 32 to 34 weeks. It is a major challenge for women that give birth between to 32 to 34 weeks, risking infants with disability and health problems causing life or death. Preterm birth not only affects infants, but families too. Families who need to provide care for their infants need to be prepared. Infants spend several months in the hospital to be checked on for respiratory distress syndrome and brain development. Preterm birth is causing long term health problems for premature babies than full born babies.

When premature babies are able to take short breaks, parents can provide skin-to-skin contact. Studies show premature babies can maintain their temperature longer and improve their breathing and heart rates. Mother’s should breast milk it’s one of the best ways you can do to help your preemie.
Preterm birth is the leading cause of newborn death. Advances in technology, neonatal care and treatments for preterm babies have greatly increased the chances for survival. Babies born before 37 weeks are still vulnerable to increased risk for death and to many short- and long-term effects of premature birth. Premature babies may have trouble breathing due to immature respiratory system. If the baby's lungs lacks of respiration from the lungs that can’t expand , then he or she may develop respiratory distress syndrome because the lungs can't expand and contract normally. Therefore heart problems can be another short term disease for premature babies. The most common heart problem are patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) and low blood pressure. PDA is a persistent opening between two major blood vessels leading from the heart. This heart defect often closes on its own, left untreated it can cause too much blood to flow through the heart and cause heart failure.
