Introduction Not all managers are leaders and not all leaders are managers. However, organizations can benefit from understanding that different employees are motivated differently, and therefore, different types of leaderships and managements are needed to promote productivity from employees. Managing and leading organizations requires understanding corporate culture/diversity, knowledge of organizational structures and managing changes. Corporate Culture and Diversity As human, we are social beings and develop our learning skills, knowledge and experience from our environment. It is important to understand the corporate culture because it represents the acceptable behavior in the workplace. Understanding the behavior of what to do and not do in the organization allows leaders and managers understand how to implement changes in the culture when there is unacceptable behavior and/or unethical practices. Consequently, research has shown that ‘‘organizations are social actors responsible for the ethical and unethical behaviors of their employees” (Hansen, Dunford, Alge and Jackson, 2016, p. 650). The importance of providing excellent service and meeting the needs of the customers begins with the employees employed in the organization. Unfortunately, hard decisions are needed for an organization to move forward and keep up with competitors.
